Hey Nicco, Great video, per usual 🙌🏼😃 I thought you would be using Arch Linux. I started with Ubuntu and other Debian/Ubuntu based distorts, now I’m only using Arch Linux with KDE and I love it. I also like Samtime, he’s funny and takes the pis on all tech related, so it’s not only Linux/KDE.

Nothing beats XFCE in stability even when you make it prettier with Compton and Awesome modules because I like KDE but sometimes the desktop just broke and you only have to do CTRL+ALT+T and log off, switching to another desktop environment. It's sad to discover but it's the truth: KDE is under a star of experimentation. They don't take off to stability, apparently.

This video misses the entire point of a framework laptop. The design is standardized and functional to maintain compatibilty between generations of upgrades and repairs. If something gets damaged, or worn out, it can be easily replaced many years down the line so you dont have to go out and buy a whole new computer, saving you money over time. Consumers need to vote with their wallets and if we want repairable devices to succeed we have to pay the price and show that its what we want. I dont even own a framework laptop, but i can promise you that when ever my current machine dies and costs too much to repair, i will be getting one. EVERYONE should Consider a framework, and of course it wont be right for all, but to say its a bad laptop is such a shame.

It's always a question of how you do it and especially how transparent you do it. Most implementations are an absolute disgrace! You buy a product and then they "spy" on you for the rest of the time you're using it. It's just a NO GO! Why doesn't everyone do it like steam does it. seriously, it's really not hard to be decent! Steam asks you if you even want, then you can say "OK", then it gathers the data and shows it to you so you can review it, afterwards you can decide to send it or not. Everyone who does it differently somewhere below the hood, is an asshole

Also, this DOES require both computers to be on the same EXACTLY EVERYTHING, right? If one has wired connection to cable modem through switches only, and the other is on WiFi from a DHCP-enabled router downstream from the cable modem, then this will NOT work, right?

Hello, I am here to give you some feedback about kdewallet. I keep getting nagged over and over again. I cannot find the icon. I cannot find the settings. I cannot find anything but I keep getting nagged. Looked at your documentions and its say file open setting etc. File where? The is not good. The program keep nagging me. It is getting so annoying that I am about to leave linux. The worst thing you can do as a developer is not have a clear option or icon for something that you force people to setup. This is a major not a minor issue. It is used all the time. The nagging is going to result me leaving kde until you guys learn how to write software which i linear and stable like apple, gui like windows, or stable like linux. Your interface if good and pretty and all but if it cant be used by normal people, they will and maybe that is your intent. It is buggy as hell. It crashes a lot, kde 6. It should be in beta phase at best still. Version 5.7 was good and stable. You stated ver 6 was to remove bugs but all linux does for me is crash. Send reports day and night. And this is not worthy at this time to be called linux. You moved all the settings around making learn again how to push a button. So you want people to spend time looking at eye candy and googling instead of using. An OS is a tool and we are not supposed to be the tools for constantly changing interfaces. Windows did this and it is losing a user base. If you go in this direction, you will lose users as well. I am an engineer who has had enough of people changing my interface for eye candy for the same functions. Take this as positive feedback because you were trying to do something nice but you focused on eye candy and not stability over time. Linux never crashed now its nothing but crashes. Let alone changing themes constantly messes settings sizes etc. I am sorry but I dont have time to chase a constant changing idea over time. Good work so far, bravo for the effort but if you dont stay on the same direction over time, you will go in circles!

my intention to use adblockers started back to late 2018 when i trying to get rid Wix (israeli company), Grammarly ads. as shopee (indonesian e-commerce website) ramp up their spammy advertisement & internet in general getting into "enCRAPification" era, usage of adblocks are essential and even required for safe and comfortable browsing. by google forcing MV3, they has waging war against EU & users in general.

I would never come to idea to install any Linux on Mac. Beside blasphemy, why ? macOS is doing well for me as is. And on server I’m happy user of Linux; not happy that CentOS is dead. Debian these days. Or FreeBSD for pfSense/OPNsense. That being said I might try some Linux on some old MacMinis in my shelf with Intel Silicon (CoreDuo-style of hardware)

Excellent Video!!!! Because i used to run my linux solely using xfce. My reason for not completely switching to KDE, was from my experience to understand how KDE did the things that i could do in XFCE. I found it less intuitive than XFCE. But that was because i had used XFCE so much and was able to create a custom layout Using the same drive for my home, a new install, the time to install was reduced significantly because of my configs. i could reformat, reinstall distro, install necessary software, and reboot to the same desktop. On your point of intuitive, using your definition, i agree. However, I experienced the same intuitiveness when trying to work with KDE in my 10 trials. But sometimes intuitiveness is less of a factor for experienced users and more for new ones. It would be nice to have a similar control on wallpaper/virtual desktop in KDE similar to that of XFCE. Finally, I'm on KDE and it is my default DM. It would be a good idea if there was a poll on what ex-XFCE users would like to see in KDE. It would be interesting to see the results. Cheers

This comment is long, but if you have assumed Stallman to be some kind of sexual miscreant and value the passing of fair/informed judgements of your fellow humans, I request you to at least read part of it. I did not read all 900 comments but I ctrl-f'd through a lot of them and no one seems to have addressed the Stallman comments in this video (or if they did, they did not do so recently and so this comment is still worth writing). - The "pleasure card" thing is... not really culpable? It's basically a business card, and there is no offence in that. The only criticisms that tend to get offered for why his calling card is unacceptable come from his use of exotic and tender. As for "exotic", anyone who knows anything about Stallman's taste in music and dance (did you know he was bit of a dancer?) knows that he is anything but local. See stallman.org/rms-lifestyle.html for more information. As for tender, I can understand why this may make some uncomfortable, but it there is nothing on the card that indicates any sort of pressure to partake in such contact --- only a vague bit that may or may not serve more than an indication that he is capable of offering them. Forceful and unwilling contact is not good. The word "tender", no matter how italicised it may be, is neither invasive nor rude nor s*xual. - The "history" of inappropriate claims... consists solely (depending on your standards of what is "inappropriate") of a claim he has since fully unclaimed (and not partially, as Nicco claims): he now believes children should not have s*xual relationships with adults. His other claims on the matter arise mostly from an entirely semantic disapproval of the application of the term "r*pe" and a firm unwillingness to make assumptions about things that could possibly be false (as evidenced by most if not every interview of him found on this very site). Each of these perspectives is born from his uncompromisingly precise attitudes and neither advocate for the abuse or manipulation of children. - As for the "entirely willing" statement... I recommend you read the fuller context (don't take my word for it, as always). You will find that Stallman was merely describing ONE interaction between one of Epstein's victims and someone assumed to be uninvolved in Epstein's system, and not "the childREN" (even in the video you can see Stallman uses the singular "she"). You will also find that Richard in no way intended to defend the abuse of children with this statement. All Richard Stallman said was that Epstein coerced a minor (the victim explicitly says Epstein "directed her") into PRETENDING (a.k.a. "presenting [falsely]", as Stallman worded it) to be willing to engage (and then to actually engage) in s*xual interaction with a man (possibly unknowing of the illegiality and moral non-goodness of the act; the victim was 17 at the time (the age of consent in some states) and so it may not have been obvious that she was underage) and that the interaction was not forcefully or violently initiated by the non-child "partner" --- thus not constituting r*pe (and fitting even worse the definition of "assault", the word actually used by Stallman) on Minsky's part, according to Stallman's definition. It is certainly acceptable to argue with his claim, but keep in mind that you're most likely going to end up arguing about the semantics, and not the actual moral issue (where Stallman has made little in the way of claims, though it is likely he condemns Minsky less than most of the civilian arbiters that read about the affair) - If you really want to pass judgement on Stallman, you should "make up your own mind", as he requests on his blog. Here is a nice and accurate (albeit biased in Stallman's favour) source that could serve as a starting point to that end: stallmansupport.org/. As always, when it comes to defamation (warranted or not), ALWAYS make up your mind from PRIMARY source in as full of a context as is possible. The best primary source is likely his own site (stallman.org) where he links to a secondary source that is perhaps more enlightening as it presents a much more comprehensive and evidence-based refutation of his defamation (stallmansupport.org/debunking-false-accusations-against-richard-stallman.html). Side note: I do not mean to endorse the perspectives of Stallman in this comment except where explicitly indicated. In many cases, I disagree with him. However, that doesn't mean he should be misrepresented and calumniated to people who neither know better nor care to find out more.

To be honest, if I became a lead developer of a project I really dont want to make any code of conduct since I dont want to waste my time policing people on what they do and what they say, I would rather deficate my time working in the project. My belief is also pretty much, dont dictate people on what they do and say and just allow them to do whatever they want, because to whatever they do and say there is an equal consequences on it....

if those application style components aren't SVGs, why are they still stored in each desktoptheme in /widgets? for example, there's widgets/scrollbar.svgz that defines the shape of the scrollbar. changing it doesn't do anything, but it's there.

Your fake laugh and mocking is really mean spirited. You came into this video assuming everything Brody is experiencing is wrong. Some specifics: If plasma does not work without certain packages, don't separate them, ensure monitor management is included as a core part of plasma libraries. You can blame the distro if you want, but really it's plasma's fault still. The widget experience is super unfriendly from in KDE and has been for a long time. Implicitly widgets don't work in various modalities (desktop, vertical panel, horizontal panel), other desktops do not allow you to add widgets to places they don't work, or when they publish a widget they ensure it works fluently in all modalities. The way plasma widgets work has always felt very unprofessional. The problem is plasma is so disunified, you take offense to things that feel impossible to improve due to the structure of how development works on your project. I think you should dream bigger and stop laughing at users.

After a tremendous amount of ball ball busting, with 5 different distros, I finally found something that works for me. Fedora Kde Neon, with x11 instead of Wayland. There are some issues with Wayland especially with an NVIDIA Gpu. I will say, hybrid graphics switching actually works and games run extremely well, seemingly better than windows at times. Be warned, if you use Wayland, you will have serious issues with things like Steam and some web browsers. Use x11 instead and Make sure to use TimeShift when you get things working right. The only thing better about Wayland is it has HDR support but, I couldn't get any HDR games working with it

Don't forget that a detection AI would need training data, which is already bad, but you could also find the optimal output with a method like that of Stable Diffusion or Google DeepDream, and then you would have a CSAM generator.
