Agreed I had a car accident in on my way to school this year in January caused by an idiot who totaled my car. As I was there, 2 hours away from my family I realized no one cares about you. I now work in a place with a fabulous atmosphere. 😃It's like night and day. The pay and the benefits aren't as good but I swear I was going to die an early death if I stayed at my previous place. You don't have to become friends with colleagues, but why wouldn't you want a party/gifts? There is a clear difference between a working relationship that remains only in the workplace and a relationship with colleagues outside of it. Being nice in the workplace itself doesn't mean you have to see them outside.

I worked at Motorola in the 1980s. Same thing. I worked very hard and learned the entire build process for building missiles. It didn't make a difference. Why? Because, I didn't play on the softball team and go drinking with the "guys" or the manager. When they went and rated all of us as Quality Assurance inspectors, I was rated in the bottom 33% but I knew exactly why. And the worst was when you kept hoping for the raise the manager promised you but it never came. 8 years there. I went from $6.75 and hour to $10.05. $3.30 raise in 8 years. And just to make a point, being white, doesn't give you "any" privilege either. Blessings to all!

Same dude, I worked at a place for 2 1/2 years got injured, and got fired for it. It’s definitely salt in the wound when the people you worked alongside for so long didn’t care either. I literally had a piece of metal run through my face…Not one text or call after to see how I was. Coworkers are the fakest of friends 😂 Luckily I healed real well, and the scar is almost gone. @hellosunshine3646 Nothing like the company of good friends huh!!!! People now are obsessed, and I mean obsessed with showing off how many people and “friends” they know. It’s really incredible, specially here in the US, I’ve always had a lot friends growing up, I still do, they’re out there, but since I moved I seem to have lost the ability to make friends, but that in some way has never bothered me. Yeah who doesn’t like to hang around and have a good time friends, I mean real friends. But people now with the advent of social media are going crazy, literally crazy to show off what kind of people they know. It’s really pathetic, and if you’re the guy who’s quiet, and don’t say much you’re a weirdo. That’s how they catalogue these quiet types now, me personally enjoy a close group of real friends, I don’t like crowds of people who are just pretending to be friends with you. I’d rather be alone, cause I just can’t stand the nonsense anymore, and some of these people are so pathetic, vain and stupid that it almost makes me wanna blow a gasket. They drain me, I was not do that to myself anymore, and most of them are be we there when you need them the most. A lot of them I’ve experienced are so shallow and insecure they feel they have to put you down in front of others just to make themselves feel good. They act one way at one moment and totally different the next, it’s really insanity. I told myself I wasn’t gonna go through that again. Thank God some of them have actually seen the light, and life marriage and tribulations made them better friends, those are the ones I focus, the rest can just get lost, I ain’t interested. And those are so stupid they don’t even realize who they are, the moment you act differently towards them they think somethings wrong with you, nah!! dude, we just ain’t friends no more, it’s sucks but that’s how it is now.

People nowdays are very draining. And if I don’t really want to go anywhere, I won’t!! I can be by myself and enjoy it lol it sickening to me looking at anybody over the age of 30 still looking to people please and be accepted by others. Insecure like you said and etc smh I just stay in my own lane! ✌️

You’re not alone sister. I had a coworker who I considered a friend end our friendship over something so silly and now we don’t speak to one another. It worked out for me because this person was a master gossiper and I hated hearing him gossip. God is good! Bad company corrupts good character.
