My advice to all new players would be: don't be scared. Try stuff out, make mistakes, get fired, load up new save and try again. It's a game of trials end errors. You'll make mistakes but you'll gain valuable experience and each new save you start you'll be that much smarter.

Could u help me I’m struggling with match days because every time u get into a march it takes forever - I don’t know how to sim to the end or just sim the result of the match or sim to a date

For players out on loan, there's an option to deselect "not at club" under the filters. Stops you forgetting about players when they return, and much quicker and easier to do as well

Great video Kev. I would like a video following through the new scouting process. As someone that returned to FM after a long break last year, i picked up a lot from watching you play through matches. I think it would help a new player to go through a match or two to pull out the pointers. That could be a big help

Great video! As a new player, a really good in depth video on doing transfers would be nice. Mainly doing contracts, tips for getting the best value on buying and selling and things to avoid. Are there bonuses and add one that are traps and what is this whole never never I hear about haha

Thanks Kev. Great vid and idea. Played FM Touch 19 but couldn’t really get into it as a) it was on the Switch and b) I was completely new to the game. Now armed with Game Pass so I can play on PC, I cannot wait to start a Leeds save with this knowledge. Looking forward to the next video 👍

I have just bought the game and have no idea on strategy. Never played FM before. I live in Australia and follow English football. But I'm determined to learn how to play the game. I have just delegated everything apart from manager to other people and working my way through till first game in the championship. I'm prepared to make mistakes but want to learn the game so I can achieve promotion. Thanks for tutorials.

Great video Kev. I purchased FM22 last year but I haven't really played it much and would love to play FM23. So, based on that I feel like a newbie anyway. So, a video or videos showing exactly what you do and what you delegate is a start, I know you showed us some in this video but to see everything that you take on and also how you go about scouting for players and also the process of purchasing a player. An example would be if you are interested in a striker and a goalkeeper and the process from start to finish in completing this from the initial scouting to the process of the transfer. I notice in some of your videos from FM22 that you mention about a buy back clause, can you show us how to set that up and why we use it? That will do for now 🙂

I've played FM2012 and FM2018, and I had FM2020 but didn't love it, so after researching many videos like this and watching great content, I'm ready to buy FM2023 because it appears to be far superior and more advanced than my other games. Literally that gem at 1:46 was so useful. I didn't know whether to start with a small team in a lower league, or a big one with a lot of money, or one that's happy with mediocrity. After watching FM on YT for the last year, this makes me want to give it a go!

Kev, Go to filter, scroll down, and tick 'Not at Club'. Takes all out on loan players out of your squad view in 2 clicks.

Thank you for the video and advice and all the comments which are super helpful. I’m very old school and first ventured into football manager with Championship Manager 97/98 which no doubt was detriment to my school performance! Can anyone please recommend a football manager game where it’s kinda old school as in buy/sell players, pick the team and off you go. Any advice on this would be most welcome.

last played 2016 verswion, and never understood half of that. thanks, will go delegate loads more stuff and see if i can figure out which bits need more players in ideally. of course, as York City, I could really do with shipping a couple of pointless 5 th choice players to get some wage budget. Would love to know if any clever tips for that!

I'm not new but I am to console version. After reading looks like full team talk function has returned to Xbox version, but mine only offers HT and FT. But the pre game is so important my players all start a game purple, dispite being unheated after 12 games

I tend to delegate a lot in the first season of a team I’m not familiar with. I like spending the first season learning about the squad and letting my staff give me advice on recruiting

Is there a follow up to this video ? Also Medical Center I do not think should be overlooked, or you will be lots of injuries, looking who is at risk is best to avoid playing a full match with them better to have them in bench.

Can someone explain the LOANING CLUB to me? There seems to be a major verbiage issue on the loan screen in FM23. The OPTIONAL FUTURE FEE says the LOANING CLUB will pay that amount if it decides to purchase the player (so the loaning club is the one GETTING the player). Okay fair enough. HOWEVER, when you hover over the salary percentages, it says "a proportion of the player's salary to be paid by the LOANING CLUB". So if im sending the player out, i want to maximize both of these? And then minimize the MONTHLY FEE?

The last time I played one of these on desktop was Championship Manager 97/98. Played on console more recently but seriously considering getting a laptop to play the full game as it looks like there is loads you miss out on, on the console version

I always choose the worst team in the worst division and try to turn it around. It's a slog but fun none the less.

First day make sure you look at your staff because if they are poor what they say or coach is no good. The team and player assessment is always less than 100% and worst with a poor staff. A poor physio miss player injuries and a poor scout brings relaxed and casual players. If you can, sack them, budgets may prevent this especially in lower leagues. edit: I offer all the players I want out the first day because the game takes most of them and less everyday after that. Same with no club players fewer each day so I make deals the first day too.

When the game starts pause it and look at the top right of the screen you will see a setting menu. Click on that a cha he the highlight mode. If you don't see highlights I presume it's on commentary mode, change that to any of the other and you should start seeing highlights
