My ex gfs bestfriend was what I call "the toxic one". The one that lowkey wants you two to break up so she can have more of your GF for herself so that she's not alone being single. Most of the times they simply dislike men from having bad experiences with some and they dislike seeing other relationships work when theirs sucked. Anytime you have a fight she will try to make it worse which they most of the times will suceed with.

sorry but it is true, and those guys that disagree are almost always the guys that never had that *chance* to do so they don't really know for certain. the odds of this happening increases if either of you two is attractive and it increases even more if both of you think the other is attractive even the slightest, and this increases even more if you both are friends of some sort therefore meaning you both on some level like each-others' personality. and this doesn't just come from the mindset of men, I've heard plenty of women that were the *3rd wheel* in a friendship to a guy they wish they could be with but was already taken or they weren't pretty enough in their eyes to get the guy they are friends with.

icynok Yeah well it's definitely true that I might've thought a guy was attractive and he has a girlfriend, but that doesn't really mean I didn't enjoy his company regardless. I often have a crush on like 10 guys at once so it's not a massive deal if some of them aren't actually options. I still enjoy hanging out with them as friends :p

I'm in a bit of a reverse version of this. One of my best friends has a girlfriend who, despite being a wonderful human being, is so clingy it's sad. Dude has to be on the phone with her at least once morning, noon, and night. My friend group also meets on Mondays for Pathfinder. This has been an established tradition for 5 years, but I'll be damned if he doesn't duck out once a month because, "Lauren wants me to spend more time with her." This would be totally reasonable, if she didn't see him literally every fucking day. Shit is bonkers, yo.
