At first i thought this anime was about: sad boy meets happy girl, happy girl gets sad boy to play piano, sad boy falls in love, happy girl falls in love, happy ending

It honestly wasn't Kaoris death that hit the hardest in this show. "Your Lie in April..." Kaoris lie was. Finding out that this whole time she had idolized Arima as a musician and made it her life's goal to play with him. And the fact that she planned things out to avoid hurting Tsubaki and keep the 3 friends together while still being Amiras stepping stone back into the music world. ... Wow, just wow. Great stuff !

The saddest part was how her hair color slowly faded away throughout the series, I noticed that early on and I knew something was wrong. As her condition worsens and as the story goes on, her hair gets darker and darker.

Well my piano teacher who taught me for 7 years was diagnosed with cancer before my piano exam Then after the exam i found out she had passed away I gave up piano shortly after and now after watching this anime i want to play the piano again For her For her to hear my music Edit: Bit late on the replies but thank you all for your support. When she kept saying things like "Im not always gonna be here to help you" I knew she was gonna pass away but i wasnt ready for the ending.. It broke me down

I literally broke down into TEARS when Kōsei was reading Kaori’s letter… And just hearing her confess to everything, telling him how sorry she is, saying that she loves him MULTIPLE times, and asking him not to forget about her… Your Lie In April is the FIRST anime series that really had me bawling out in tears.

For some reason I always thought she had leukemia. The symptoms are very alike with anaemia with fatigue, shortness of breath and pale skin(as both of those are blood diseases), but it still has no cure and affects people of all ages. Patients could also have sudden nosebleeds and bleeding gum, which we see in the anime. Also, when I searched how do patients with leukemia die, it said ‘it can include blood clots and heart failure’. Paralysis also can happen, but it’s not as common. But it as well says that high temperature and loss of weight is a sign that someone with leukemia has their last days to live. We can see both in the final scene where firstly, Kaori says that it’s really hot in the room(and Kousei wouldn’t agree with that), and secondly Kousei would admit that she is very light when he carried her.

I would pay money to experience this anime for the first time again.

I don't think I've ever truly cried for an anime show, not until after watching Your Lie in April. Man does this show hit you in the feels.

Another thing about Kaori's illness that i've noticed was that during her fall in her home, the camera zooms to her feet. From what i remember reading about FA, a problem that comes with it is that the feet kind of arches, which also causes trouble walking and needs surgery to fix. Kaori also died extremely young and would've lived a bit longer if she had a diet with low blood sugar (there were many scenes of Kaori having a sweet tooth and eating those pastries that had a lot of sugar and carbs). So her diet also contributed to her early death. I think.

I feel bad for anyone who hasn’t seen this anime but at the same time I envy them because they have the chance to watch it for the first time

I remember one scene of foreshadowing was when Kousei, Kaori, Tsubaki, Watari, and Kashiwagi were at the school pool. They were asking each other about what they wanted to do in their future and lighting sparklers. When somebody asked Kaori what she wanted to do in her future she said something along the lines of "I haven't really thought about that yet" and it showed her sparkler suddenly going out. I'd assume this was early foreshadowing for her death.

The saddest thing for me was not her death but how they focused on when you find someone you see the world in a whole new color and that in the beginning she was bright and colorful but she slowly began to fade to grey and her color dimmed.

When he said that it "puts too much focus on less than irrelevant characters" I have to say I disagree. The background characters, having backstory and some depth makes the show all the more interesting.

Watched your lies in april, cried for an hour, feels sad about her. feels bad for kousei. feels bad about everyone severely sick.

I always assumed it was Multiple Sclerosis, just because that makes Kaori more in line with famous cellist Jacqueline DuPres, a truly incredible musician who was only able to preform for a decade before retiring at 28 and spend the next 14 years battling the illness, dying at 42. I’m impressed with the amount of research you did, and that was a spot on diagnosis.

There’s actually quite a lot of symbolism in this show explaining her condition and how she will wilt away by the different animals and environment Example: fire fly’s light getting out out. The cat dying.

How is Your Lie in April rated PG? The story is largely about purpose in life and it has one of the saddest deaths ever in a series and the MC has a history of child abuse.

I watched this in 2 days and I have never felt so emotional, I thought I'd never cry to a series and for the first time I did. I'll never forget this anime.

Your lie in april is one the most impactful animes I've seen and im so glad they produced it. Im new to watching anime aside from naruto and dbz, and Its a must watch imo if anyone is in the same boat thinking that they wont love something emotional like this.
