I play tennis for 3 years now. started at 28 and always had a hard time hitting my One hander. Watching you i feel that i'm improving constantly. Of course, i'm improving because i'm on court a few times per week, trying again and again what i learned here. So, thanks for the videos! One difficulty that i'm having for years is how can i lift low balls with my one handed backhand? What always happens is that i miss in the net, the ball goes to the moon or i have to rely on hitting a slice that my opponent ends up attacking

This actually relates to another comment I just made here, but one thing you can *try* is a slight grip adjustment so you don’t have to get your hand quite as low. But this is likely to require a more vertical swing path

You are not pronating your wrist at the right instance. And in the setup you have to be there ready for the ball you cannot show up late, swinging through the ball as you connect at the Apex or before at the same time you are pronating your wrist will do it. Also forget the court, practice against a wall for an hour 4 days a week. Then gravitate to the court.

Hi Simone great explanation, I think the sit down part is the most difficult for me as well as keeping distance from the ball ( I tend to rush towards it ..) , now my best results is when I hit hard and fast, but when I want to just rally, defensive or simply short backand it always gos onto the net. Any hints?

Ok time for a lesson. The 2hbh is the inferior stroke compared to the 1hbh. The reason why it’s used today by 98% of all players is that it is the easier stroke to learn and adapt to. The game today has changed for the worse, it is purely a baseline game, and baseline play and a 2hbh along with the large artificial rackets and strings all go hand in hand. They are essentially an assistant or a handicap that allow more players to play tennis today. The 1hbh is far more difficult to master and use and requires a natural ability to use where the 2hbh is more of a mechanical stroke that does not require natural ability the 1hbh has has been used by the greatest players overall, there are a few exceptions like a few of todays top players and Connors, Borg, Agassi and Courier for example but these earlier players adapted to an all court and volley game as well, and they used traditional equipment (except for Agassi) that did not give them any advantages. They still volleyed and played the net even with small rackets and a 2hbh. An all court game that requires mid court and net play and getting off the baseline is by far the more difficult game, add to this the more difficult 1hbh and you have an extremely difficult game, but players today are not taught this they are taught the easier method of standing on the baseline and using the 2hbh to pass the ball back to the opponent, the 2hbh is not a weapon today it’s just a stable method to get the ball back, the 1hbh is a weapon. Todays rackets and strings also hurt the game and allowed players to just stand on the baseline. Over 50% of actual tennis has been eliminated due to modern tennis training and equipment. The 1hbh provides so much more reach as well and there is additional time needed to bring the other hand over for a 2hbh reach, the player runs out of time. The 2hbh cannot run to the net and play the net. It’s impossible only a 1hbh can play the net, net volleys and drop shots. Lesson over !!

4:03 Is it ok to keep the arm straight ONLY at the time when hitting the ball? (complete leverage)
@blarpieman
@blarpieman 9 ай бұрын
I love everything except step 4. I would argue the point about the hips starting the drive and this forces the racquet drop which improves power like Stan. He never finishes perpendicular to the ball but I understand what you are attempting to do. By staying closed with both arms extending away from each other can result in ARMING the ball and you will never get pro level power because that always requires hip initiation first just like the forehand. The hips are everything I am finding. The arms are just what is hanging onto the racquet. I also think people make the mistake of setting up too early and trying to rip through the ball instead of coiling and uncoiling as the ball approaches. Great vid though!

I failed at hitting usable topspin 1hbh for 5-10 years until switching from continental to a more Eastern grip. Continental can work ok on low ones, but the higher the contact point, the harder it is to drive and control. I even go a bit further Eastern for high ones
@stevewaters7559
@stevewaters7559 10 ай бұрын
Absolutely! It's impossible to hit a good top spin bh with a continental grip. You have to rotate the racket an 1/8 th in your hand to get a grip you can use to hit with top spin

well again so many things that make you think 1. at 1.10 elbows up and away : you dont see that a lot but they are closer to the body almost touching the body 2. at 1.20 we make the bodyturn and change grip : most pros change grip before bodyturn 3. at 1.40 imaginary line untill we about to hit the ball : once body turn is finished that will change because its the only way to get the strings pointed to the backfence 4. at 2.05 if elbow drops racketface opens : most 1HBH players have that racketface open even with that 90degree angle 5. at 3.20 we want to keep that upward racket position : pros will turn that racket down below their wrist 6. at 4.10 at contact you keep your wrist UP and firm ( watch position at 4.26 ) : pros will have their wrist even ( horizontal ) or a little downward at contact unless its a high contpoint 7. at 4.27 you want to keep that racket handle up and fixed through the followthrough : pros have their rackettip pointing to the front at the end of the followthrough as a tennisdoctor he must have a lot of profesionals passing by to get their problems fixed.

Mouratoglou said, your right hand should bend not straight because most balls are fast so possibly you'll be late hitting those fast balls because your right hand is straight. Doesn't have enough time to prepare against fast balls.

@thiagobadin5331
@thiagobadin5331 10 ай бұрын
From the videos that i watched, that is exactly what he recommends. Keeping the wrist at the same place will increase consistency. Ususally the raquet head speed is so fast on good players and the rotation from your shoulders added to it, that the momentum of the shot makes the raquet point to the other side like when we watch dimitrov, federer etc hit. At least, that is what i understood from his other videos xD
