Here are some things I have noticed and learned about the Swingline Guillotine Cutter as a crafter who has used it for over 7 years. This video is not sponsored by Swingline nor am I affiliated with Swingline. Please read all safety guidelines for this and any product before use. Blue Swingline Guillotine Paper Cutter with Top Ruler in Blue: amzn.to/3PU7Xpk
Green Swingline Guillotine Paper Cutter with Top Ruler in Gray: amzn.to/46KcFwL
IMPORTANT difference between the green and blue version as pointed out by several commenters. The green version appears to have the top ruler marked in gray which can be hard for some to read. The blue version has the top ruler marked in blue which seems to be easier to read. Swingline might make changes to this, but you may prefer the blue if you think the gray on gray will be difficult to read.

I do have a question I hoped to find the answer to here, but I didn't, so here is my question. I have the green version of this. My blade handle doesn't stay all the way up. I can't position my paper freely without using my shoulder or my forehead to keep the handle completely in the up position. I find it very difficult to get my paper to the cutting position because of this. Thanks for sharing your craftiness. I really enjoy watching your videos

I have the green version and I love it. It is more cost effective for me as I was replacing the trimmer blade so often on my regular trimmer. There is a learning curve as with any crafting tool but once I got the hang of it it’s great. I still get out my traditional Fiskers if I am making a lot of small cuts but this is my work horse. I love that it’s so light weight. I don’t have a craft room so I need to store my things. This usually gets stored under a dresser. If my granddaughters walk in I can easily place this on top of the refrigerator until after they leave. I find this particular trimmer gives me more accurate cuts than other guillotines. I own a mid size guillotine trimmer from Hobby Lobby and my papers slide around and it’s much harder to read the ruler. I also have a tiny 4 inch Fiskars guillotine that I rarely use. But I wholeheartedly recommend my Swingline. As you mentioned, holding down the paper is the key to getting a straight cut.

I completely agree with you on how sharp the cut is on a guillotine cutter. I have a mini WRMK cutter and I love it. I went through a Fiskars and Cricut slide trimmer and I always ended up with fuzzy edges not long after changing blades. I’ve had my guillotine for over a year and it still cuts perfectly. Occasionally, I have to use my large rotary cutter for 12x12 paper, but just to cut it in half. After that, my guillotine takes over. Great video!

I was thinking about investing in a guillotine trimmer, but seeing you go through the review of the Swingline made me realize that a guillotine trimmer is not for me and my medical issues. Thank you for the in depth look at how a guillotine trimmer works.

Thank you for demonstrating the cutter. I have a slide trimmer but have been considering a guillotine type too. Great information!

I have used the Swingline green version for almost 3 years now and am very happy with it. I used a Sharpie and placed a mark at the 12 inch point on the left hand side of the cutting table for those few occasions that I need that measurement. My only criticism with it is the top ruler measurements are faint. It’s hard to see if I’m not in a brightly lit spot. Otherwise it’s great. Thanks for the review!

I just received my Swingline guillotine a few days ago, before this came out. I might have gotten the blue had I known a little more, but I guess this will work, tho it is a bit harder to see since the numbers at the top aren't easily seen. I may see if I can mark them to see better.

Thank you for how in-depth this review it is. I’ve been wondering if a guillotine trimmer is something I would like or not. I’ve only used them helping out with PTO and it was a huge massive scary one. That was also before I started crafting.

I have this trimmer and is perfect for cutting cardboard! But, please be very careful, blade is very sharp. I cut myself just by touching it by error.

I just bought this paper cutter and cannot unlock the latch to pull the blade up. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I see you reaching under and making it look very easy. But mine will not budge. It doesn’t even look like the latch in the instructions. Do I get out a screwdriver and loosen it? Also trying not to cut myself while wrestling with this darn thing!

I like the Swingline. The problem I am having is the cutting arm does not stay up. It has a tendency to drop slightly from the holding position. Another thing it does not always cut straight. I do everything you talk about before I cut, yet the paper sometimes is not cut straight. Thank you for sharing your insight on this product.

I have this trimmer and I like it. It’s not very heavy and cuts great. The only problem I have with it is the top numbers are gray and very hard to see under my light.

I needed this. I’m newbie at crafting and I bought two inexpensive paper trimmers but the cuts are not clean. Maybe is operator error and my A2 cards are uneven.

The Fiskars guillotine has a full 12 in platform and a guard to hold your paper down so it doesn’t shift and it protects your fingers.

How do I get my 12 inch paper to stay flat while cutting. It buckles a little.
@JessCrafts
@JessCrafts 6 ай бұрын
I suggest holding the paper towards the bottom to keep it in place. I don't always remember to do this because it's less necessary with smaller sizes.

My one did not have the measurements at the top so that I could see them, yours stand out really well, mine did not. I wanted to send it back but the costs would have been too much. So instead I could keep it and get most of the costs back which was reasonable, but I was disappointed. I bought it because of your use. It seems weird that they are so different. Xx🦋🦋
