Ironically, I just watched the "viral" video earlier today.

This was really good. It’s helps me bring out my story. I was Once married/divorced because of physical/mental abuse and then became an adulterous and had no prob with it then continue to fornicate with my now husband Being told that I was living unhealthy made me give my life to God and trust God process. My then boyfriend knew I was not comfortable fornicating and we decided to get married (justice of peace) for God and no one else. We wanted his approval on this relationship. We’ve been together for almost 17 years and have a beautiful blessed family. Aug makes 5 years. And it’s one of the best decisions we’ve made. I know God has forgiven me for my past and I have let go off all those temptations thanks to daily following/practicing “healthy” ways. To add to that I was not able to serve in a ministry and be broken. The word from God opened my eyes Thanks Victory for the teachings.

I’m not religious and this video was an ad that I clicked on out of curiosity. Most of what you bring up is this video is good advice for people who are dealing with specific issues. If you are having trouble with a past marriage and praying about it helps you good for you I think that’s great. Having some sort of closure is good and if that closure for you is praying I think that’s awesome. I think the sentiment of “lusting” for someone being equivalent to actually committing adultery is wrong. Someone who thought about robbing a convenience store and someone who actually did it are not the same. Also, I don’t believe anyone can speak on behalf of the lord, for me because he’s not real, but for those who do believe in a god, it is a pastors job to interpret the Bible and the teachings of the lord for people, not to guess what the lord thinks about a subject. Finally time to talk about what made me comment in the first place. I hope no sexual abuse victim ever hears you or any pastor with the same beliefs as you speak. If you want to use the Bible to help you through your life that’s fine, if you want to use it as a guide book on how to act or behave that’s fine. The mental health and past experiences of sexual abuse victims is not the same game. Telling victims they will always be attached to their abusers is disgusting. I feel even worse for the victims that are part of the church and feel a need to adopt those same viewpoints. Getting over an experience as traumatic as that is extremely difficult and near impossible when there are people out there who act endearing and then tell you that you can never actually get away from that experience and you need to accept that you are spiritually stuck to them forever. Obviously the experience will never fully go away, but when young men and women who look up to people like you hear that god will always see them as joined to their abuser it will cause some serious damage, damage that will make it immensely harder to heal and cope with their experiences.
