is this vtx good for ultra long range for rc planes? there has been so much talk about using 1.3GHz and 1000 to 3000n milliwatts for that king of distance.

I have an unused ghost module that I was planning to run on my next build. Got a deal on it when they came out and haven't tried it. Looks promising

VTX enabled before the bind, after the bind, the setting got sent, then the RX sent it to the VTX... there is that short window from battery connected -> VTX change being sent that the VTX will still be on the old system. Think you could get around this by having the VTX setup to not start transmitting for x duration after power on to give a change like this a chance to be sent, or even have one that always defaults to off or pit mode on start up and has to be set to a higher setting every time it is enabled. However, the whole process would need some modifications from the current expectations.

I don't think you can set a CRSF channel to ON/OFF your TBS Unify. IRC wins that one.

4:09. I don't see how we can fault Immersion for this "blast". We expect the VTX to instantly transmit video even while the circuit hasn't even fully charged the 6S capacitor. This ensures we never get interuptions in flight, even with power fluctuations. During the "blast" shown here, we see instant transmition on previously existing settings before the goggle even has time to transmit the new settings to the VTX. Sure, maybe communication could be even faster, but I'm sure Immersion based their signal protocols on sensible timing and verification as required by physics. 😏

Is there a way to disable the angle thing, like if the drone is tilted and when you try arm it, it doesn't arm and says angle or smth, so is there a way to disable that so even if my drone is upside down it will arm? It's just because like, a week ago or smth I flew my drone like couple km up in the sky, and it lost tx for couple secs and disarmed, and then somehow it turned upside down and it was falling like a brick from couple kilos up and I couldn't do anything, at the time I tried to arm it and didn't knew why, and tf it doesn't, it just said angle and I didn't pay attention to where it's falling I was so focused on how to arm it... I spent the whole day searching for it in the fields, and I'm pretty sure I heard it hitting the ground but haven't found it since... so I lost almost 400$ GoPro, and a 250$ or smth drone because of that..... and I just started flying couple weeks before that... so I don't really need to know, but if I ever again get a drone it would be nice to know-how or like to make an emergency button that arms the drone and ignores angle

Don't do this! (Edit: Don't rely on this at a race!) This is NOT reliable. Let's use some logic here before we go telling people to use this method: The radio is constantly sending signal to vtx over the radio, That's why when the quad powers up it switches to what is being sent by the TX. Let's say we have a broken antenna on the TX or for some other reason the RX isn't getting the message to "power off" the vtx... Then this will not work. Furthermore, The BEST that ImmersionRC can do to fix this is to tell the receiver to always turn the VTX off on power up (until it gets a reliable instruction from the TX).. The problem is that if Betaflight doesn't get the message for some reason (say a broken or poorly wired RX) then it will used the last stored settings. This will have to be fixed by Betaflight. If someone wants to code the fix and issue a pull request, You will just do what I suggested ImmersionRC do.. have betaflight turn off the VTX on boot and wait for Tramp to turn it back on. The problem is that this will need a toggle in config because this will obviously not work on rigs which don't have this or Crossfire's thing. But I'm sure JB can figure out a trick or hack to make the VTX always off on boot. Perhaps set a toggle? Not sure.

Very nice that you could power down the Vtx and set a switch therefore! On CRSF you could either have an dynamic VTX function which detects low reception and switch to max output power (sadly did not work as I tested it a few months ago...) OR set up vtx tables via SmartAudio and controling all power levels with a 6p- switch (which I just LOVE because I'm changing power levels all the time and also while flying..)

Joshua, you forgot about another awesome feature of the Ghost/Tramp integration. If you have Orqa's, a RapidFire and the FPV.Connect you can install a Ghost Atto onto the FPV.Connect and bind it to your transmitter. Then when you change channels on your Ghost module, your VTX changes and your Orqa's automatically change to the right channel. It's great at a Race, when you need to change channels - you do it once and everything just works for you! Would love for you to do a video on this as there is hardly any information out there on how to get this feature working for Orqa's.

Seeming different vtx have different power output tables (eg some might do 25, 100, 400 whilst others do 25, 200, 800), how does it handle if you set it to an incompatible power setting?

Does the betaflight LUA script and normal radio/FC telemetry still work even when the tramp/telemetry wire is connected directly to the VTX?

Just so you know, IRC has already fixed the video blip issue that yours demonstrated. It's in FW version 1.0.2.2 and later.
