When KZfaq started out they had a cap of 10 minutes per episode. It wasn't strange to have a two or three part video of a subject.After they removed the cap was when there were 10 hour long videos of looped content. (Caramelldansen anyone?)

It's been a fun time watching this channel change and develop. It seemed at the start like you guys were just critiquing the toy with some science for how to make a better toy, but it didn't take long for you to pivot to using the toy as an excuse to provide more comprehensive dino facts and theories. This was a nice look back and what the channel started with, compared to what it's become.

I had this toy! As a child I just assumed that it wasn't supposed to be a dinosaur but some sort of weird quadrupedal predator from what was to me the vague and ethereal time before the great dying (it usually had to sit with assorted dimetrodons when everything got spread out on the floor).

To everyone involved, mistakes happen and honestly who cares? None of us were around that long ago! We're all learning and growing day by day. If we didn't have those traits we'd still be smacking rocks together! Good job to the team! Y'all are great and reintroduced me to paleontology, which was my "dream job" when I was little, and before Jurassic Park!

adding on the matter of ribs with spikes, there is another vertebrate with similar structures called Protuberum, a traversodontid cynodont from the Middle Triassic of Brazil. Protuberum's ribs did not bear spikes, but several nodules, something very odd, and we know that it's probably not pathological or any of that because there are several specimens from varied localities.

Thanks Steven and Liz. We are very grateful you continued the series. We look forward to the new uploads as more updated information becomes available. It is always fascinating to see how a long running YT channel has changed over the years. Especially the production values. The studio you built adds a lot, the original series looked like it was shot in the corner of a garage workshop.

I can't believe it's almost been 10 years since this series started. I've learned so much about modern depictions of these dinosaurs that dino documentaries have only just caught up to (don't get me started on how Jurassic Park dinos are so far removed from science now that you can argue that these creatures are more fantasy than sci-fi). I hope you all keep up the good work as I look forward to another 10 years of Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong.

YDAW needs to start its own toyline :) Could have them catalogued by year of manufacture... so when there's any new information about any particular dinosaurs that then shows your current line of said Dino as wrong, then you could release a new updated version of that toy.

When you remake the Scelidosaurus episode will you be covering it's relationship in Thyreophora as well as with the more specific relationships with the other basal members of the group? I have always been fascinated with that section of dinosaur evolution and with the new discoveries of Jakapil and Yuxisaurus this year it seams we are getting closer and closer to having a clear idea of what the origins of Thyreophora was like.

Dear YDAW, I've been a long-time watcher of your show since the old channel, and it's really cool to see how far you've come thus far! Here's something I hope you'll appreciate, maybe you already know about this: ever heard of WONDER Artistic Models? They're a small Chilean company making wooden 3D puzzles of paleofauna, they've gotten started only recently, however they're not anything like the rest. Their models are scientifically accurate to the bone, quite literally! If you haven't heard of them already, I suggest to check their website and/or KZfaq channel, you'll be impressed. And at long last, we can say there's finally somebody making scientifically accurate dinosaurs! Love your show and can't wait for the re-upload of Ep. 17 on Spinosaurus (my favourite dinosaur thanks to you!).

This isn't on topic, but I can't immediately find anything on the internet about this, and I despise twitter. This concept came up as I looking at Allosaurus (for a dnd game, of all things) and realized their teeth and jaws are fairly similar to Komodo Dragon teeth; small for the size of the animal, serrated back edges(allo gets front serration too). They even share the weak bite but strong skull characteristic. Is there any evidence that it could have had the same or similar septic/anti-coagulant/venomous bite as the Komodo Dragon or is a all just a case of convergent evolution for different goals?
@brettgabbitas1852
@brettgabbitas1852 Жыл бұрын
Allosaurus only has a weak bite in comparison to Tyrnnosaurus rex. That is like saying a Domestic Cat has a weak bite, because it doesn't have the bite force of a Hyeana. Like Cats and Komodo Dragons, Allosaurus would have had more than enough bite force to rip into the thick skins of it's prey. That is what Natural Selection is all about, being good enough.
