This is not a review. I discuss why so many people are wrong about this watch. I discuss way more than just the sales figures....This is a fun one!
This watch was bought at RRP from a store in London, Christmas 2023.

Buy what you like. If someone else doesn't like it, tell them to buy you one of what they like, and you'll be happy to wear it. Also, it's fun to see people's reaction when, after running their mouth about this watch or that, they hear someone else talk shit about their treasured whatever. And believe me, no matter what watch makes your peepee hard, there's someone who hates it, and will shit all over it without hesitation or remorse. Nothing ever bolted together by Leyland would qualify as a great car. As a teen, I worked for a salvage yard/repair shop that specialized in British cars. We used to sell a bumper sticker that read "All of the parts falling off of this car are of the highest quality British craftsmanship". Why do Brits drink warm beer? Lucas refrigerators. The TR7 was especially terrible. An egregious affront to motorcars. But we love them, and so did our customers. People spent countless dollars and put up with weekends up to their elbows in grease to keep their beloved little Spitfires, Midgets, and MGBs running, while a Buick or Ford that had become bothersome went to the crusher.

i completely agree, i don't own a moonswatch but i respect them. watch snobs need to learn that some people enjoy watches for being silly and fun (why i collect mad gshocks) and that we don't care about the serious side of the sector, we just want something to smile, a sentiment which Swatch is all about

I think all watches have a right to exist and that we should make up our own minds about whether a watch is good, or otherwise. That said, I have never owned a Swatch, although I owned an Omega over 40 years ago. I tend to want to buy heavy, stainless watches, but that's just me.

Never "watched" a "watch" video of yours before... It brought a smile to my face. (Subscribed after one viewing, BTW) My most memorable car was a rusty old Vauxhall Cavalier, which I blew up on the M4... I had 3 passengers in it at the time (and) I had to drive it to the next exit, sounding like a jackhammer, where I abandoned it for 3 weeks (in a residential street), about a mile from the motorway, while I went on a sales trip to the USA. On my return, I drove it to the nearest scrapper! It wasn't my all time favourite, but it certainly was the one that sticks in my mind more than any other. I wouldn't personally buy the MoonSwatch, (it does zero for me and seems very expensive for a plastic quartz watch, IMHO) but I respect why you love it! Like you say, it's the emotions that connect you to your watch that are more important than the specs.

Great review. We know what's a Swatch, it's obviously not top quality, it's a plastic watch. But you have the design of the Speedmaster in many different colors and planets for an affordable price. People who don't like the MoonSwatch, don't buy it, it's more interesting than angry criticism. As you say in the video, if you are happy with the MoonSwatch, it's great.

Fantastic video, Dan. I really enjoyed it, and many thanks for sharing about yourself and your family. Whatever brings our hearts joy is good. And there's really no wrong about this hobby of ours as long as we observe responsible financial bounds. As for your son, God bless him always. Enjoy every minute you can with him because time passes too quickly. And time with family, friends, and loved ones is the most important thing in our lives. I have many watches, Omega, Grand Seiko, Tudor, and Seiko. I also have quite a few Swatches. I love them all. Yes, I have a MoonSwatch, it's a fun watch. I had been trying to get my daughter interested in watches for over 20 years, the first watch she ever asked me to get for her was a MoonSwatch, she wears it every day. We as watch collectors sometimes forget that we aren't always the target market. The main thing to remember about the MoonSwatch is you have to change the strap, the velcro thing is horrible.

Bought a Mi Band 8 off Amazon for £28, I now wear two watches 😂. I also have a Sekonda watch that I bought from Argos for £14 around 2004, still runs well to this day. It's not as pretty as it used to be but it's special to me because it's the one I wore to school.

I have one. I wore it once and if I ever get around to remembering to do so I'll sell it. It's not bad looking. It's comfortable because it weighs nothing. The strap looks nice, but is awful. But the very worst thing about it is the noise from the very cheap movement. I have a Timex expedition that costs nothing from when I started collecting. I no longer wear it but as its famed for being loud (something I found enduring at the time), I compared it to the Moonswatch. The Moonswatch is so much louder. My friend has a fake Mission to the Moon which is ironically silent, and keeps the same time. This is a £240 watch losing against a £20 replica. A £20 watch can be fun. A £240 rip off is just a rip off. The only thing it has done well is bring people into the community. For someone new that perhaps is yet to own a refined watch, let alone a luxury one will find them interesting. But anyone with even a tiny bit of knowledge and experience will and have seen them for what they are. Overhyped plastic.

"you only have to change the battery" Uhhh... No. Quartz movements are not eternal. In a normal watch you can at least replace them. Infact ETA sells the G10.212 movement as a replacement part, but not for Swatches. Objectively the watch is a standard Swatch Chrono with a fancy case that had already demonstrated to be quite flimsy (there is a reason we use plastic and not 1/3 plastic 2/3 inert powder), and it's overpriced like a standard Swatch Chrono (or more, since the pushers of a standard Swatch Chrono are at least made to not break that easily). Did they sold a lot of them? Yeah. They sell a lot of overpriced stuff.

100% correct, so glad you've made this, yes it's a bit rubbish but the idea and the romance. You've got a tiny bit of moonwatch, yes it's plastic, bits fall off, crap value, won't last 2 minutes, stains (allegedly) skin. But it's a feeling, bit like your 1st car (and my 1st car). It's not the parts, the nuts n bolts it's the bits of your brain that say HAPPY, let's face it it's what our hobby and any other hobby is about...pleasure. I do think if they'd put these online sales there wouldn't be half the hate. Cool video, so thankyou and great (and if a but rubbish) 1st car. Lucky you, soft top, sports car mine was a volvo😂. Most of us wore some kind of favorite watch as Im sure many us anticipated the obvious question " whats on your wrist" ? Lol I made some good friends that day and a few I still have contact with. There was a very unique camaraderie among my group and we all shared which watch we wanted and made pacts in case of a trade. Everyone kept their word.
