Thank you, thank you, thank you. Such a long time I marvel at the wisdom of Tibeten hand gestures, and for the first time I listen explanation of their meanings. Pray I may have more learning and skills to dive deeper in such ocean of bliss. Kind and caring ways of Ven. Thupten Donyo.

Thank you for the nice thoughts, Liam. We have several posts about mantras on our website, which you can reach through the link in the video description. If you go to the Tibetan Buddhism section on the menu of the that webpage, you will find links to posts about Green Tara, White Tara, and the Refuge Prayer. All of these have mantras written out with English interpretations. You can also sign up for free for our YoWangdu Tibetan Culture newsletter, for more mantra content. Hope this helps!

Thank you! I have been searching for a video like this. Near the end, Ven. Thupten Donyo mentions that what is important is that during the visualizations, you must think about each offering you are visualizing. In my opinion, this is the key. The Vajra, Bell, and hand mudras all reinforce this key to training the mind to great compassion. At least, that is the way it works in my mind. Harder mental work -- better results -- more kindness. Drag that dead donkey up the hill!

What is the meaning of the Recitation Can any one help ?
@Markuz17753 жыл бұрын
I don't like to recite the Mantras in an unknown language . Can you translate the Mantras in English or French language ? I just ordered a Vajra and a Tibetan Bell. I am also happy that you can teach us how to use properly these Meditation tools. You said the offering can be Alcool or spices . But can i use Essential Oils and or Incense also ?
@Zireael17062 жыл бұрын
OM means the eternal energy from which everything including the universe and Gods are born of. It has no shape, form, state or properties. OM ARGHAM AH HUM means offering milk water OM PADYAM AH HUM means offering normal water OM PUPE AH HUM means offering flowers OM DHUPE AH HUM means offering Incence OM ALOKE AH HUM means offering fire light OM GHANDE AH HUM means offering perfume OM NEUDE AH HUM means offering food OM SHAPTA AH HUM means offering the above 7 but the Tibetan site says music? (Shapta means 7 so maybe it means the 7th tone of music) (Edited) I translated these on my own knowledge so there might be some differences in meaning. Also in translation from Sanskrit to English, words lose half of their meaning so actually there can't be an accurate translation unfortunately. Eg people might say Aloke means light. But it means a very specific type of light. Even my description of fire light won't be completely accurate. You would have to know the context of where and when the word has been used to know the complete meaning. There are scores of word in Sanskrit for light each having slightly different meaning depending on their context.
@Markuz17752 жыл бұрын
Ok, thank you so much for the translations. :)

I have a singing bowl in my shrine. Can that be used instead of a bell? Do I also need a Vajra?
