It's lore accurate since they also got their ass whooped by worm in the lore. Literally only after the 4 archetype unite together did they create the only good ally of justice card

Ally of justice really need a very good support by having a field spell that can change all opponent monster to light attributes. We have zombie world that changes all monster to zombie, if their have that field spell card the deck will become viable

Cards don't need to be good to set up degenerate wincons. Sometimes stupid loops like with Samsara Lotus or handing them to your opponent like with Gimmick Puppet Nightmare allow them to break a game without ever having a worthwhile effect in their intended "practical" usage. Even AoJ nonsense can potentially abuse Attribute changers and Dark Machine support to become slightly less useless. Though if a card has an extremely minor effect like a flat +200 Atk it's probably going to be even worse than a Normal Monster that does nothing, unless its type/attribute/statline are pivotal for a Small World Bridge or other such niche usage.

@@MarioLopez-xs3vc Not sure where you are going with this but many early archtypes were unable to set up any form of wincon. Especially early in the arc 5 era. Your Mist Valley/Ice Barriers/AOJ even archtypes with good cards like Worms essentially had no way to play within the archtype and were usually mixed with better cards to produce any semblance of a strategy. AOJ in particular yes could play attribute changing mechanics, but why bother when the most powerful deck at the time was DAD a deck filled with mostly darks. You would rather take the best member (Catastor) using better tuners (Krebons) with actually good cards like sangan to out the common threats. Bad cards exist and will always exist to make good cards look better, its not a bad thing that AoJ don't work together, it just makes for a bad Solo mode. A better way would be a Duel Terminal Solo with the 4 tribes (and their new support) with AOJ as secondary supporting cards. This would have been more lore accurate anyway and likely more fun to play.

Its basically a "nest" destroyer, it destroy them before they can "deploy/adapt" when they landed It being destroyed when there's a light monster = an active Worm found and destroy them

@@JorgeLuiz487 I mean, DT is the first time Komoney tried to heavily implement lore with their card effect, so its kinda like an experimental phase during that time Its also why cards like Worm Call summon stuff in set position, its a rough phase when they try to introduce lore into card game

I mean, the only reason he beat the Monarch deck was because he didn't try making any AOJ plays and instead just went oonga boonga caveman mode by summoning two monsters and plopping a united we stand onto them.

I think it was supposed to showcase the epic war between the 4 rival tribes who must work together to halt the invaders from space, and for that part, it did well. The archetype itself however, is fucking ass, holy shit this thing is worse than Elemental Sabers, and those mfs were already burying the bar of standard with them 6ft down in the ground.

​@@swisschese1323at least elementsabers have summoning conditions and effects to suppliment the archtype, along with easily summonable boss monsters. AoJ on the other hand...the one main deck boss they have cant be special summoned at all.

The bonus gates rarely have anything to do with lore and are just like "What is the best thing we can pair with the archetype for the opponent, and the worst thing we can pair with the archetype for you?"

​@@ToxicAtomI felt that when dealing with the Weather Painter Solo Gate. When I had to go up against the True Draco Weather Painter deck with Nemesis Weather Painter. Although oddly enough I thought the Dream Mirror Despia Loaner for the solo mode was pretty neat.

They still hate each other, also mist valley lord destroying catastor because he was salty about not getting involved in the making of cosmic gateway and get mind controlled by fabled raven is genuinely making things worse for flamvell, dragunity and x sabers who are genuinely want to stop the war.

Funny thing, I managed to consistantly making decisive armor on turn 3 so I tried to handrip opponent. I tried. It didn't work. And now my decisive armor is just 3300 atk beatstick

I never got to make Catastor but I still won first try.

For me, Monarchs just bricked, it seems.

I just turned everyone into a Light monster which allowed me to keep board control until I made that Lv 7 good sounding Synchro and eventually made Speedroid guy and burned for exact game.

Maybe it's because the opponent only has a single Monarch monster.

I assumed they gave the AI a terrible deck cos I managed to pull out some exciting wins with my terrible cards, and in hindsight I was fighting for my life against an opponent who couldn't have bricked harder.

Yeah, I didn't have too hard a time, but in hindsight I just drew a good enough hand and just flailed my way towards a win. And honestly, I didn't hate it. I actually find it a little more irritating when you're supposed to have a good archetype and the deck is an atrocious mess. With this one I had zero expectations.

I had most miserable time with Danger!Kuriboh

Naw that'd be to much fun, getting 5 monsters on board in one turn with a reborn on each is to much fun for konami to handle. Tbh they'd probably put up against gravekeepers with necrovalley just to dull it down a bit.

Dont forget Ally of Justice Decisive Armor ran as a tech option to counter the very prominent Lightsworn at the time. You could just FTK with it sometimes.

It's even funnier that their lore is also "these guys sucked until they made Catastor"

I feel like Core Destroyer and Quarantine have had side deck spots in Lightsworn heavy formats.

Cycle Reader and (occasionally) Quarantine were played when Drytron was the best deck.

they designed it that way. same for ice barriers, same for laval. they had a few ed monsters that were supposed to sell, and then the rest of the archetype existed... to fill space?

If AOJ did get new support to make it more competitive, they would probably need to just ditch the central playstyle of the deck and just make it swarm the field with synchros, like with the Black-Winged Dragon support and Superheavy Samurai support. A retrain of Catastor and Decisive Armor would be good. Like, if you can make it so that the deck can bring out Catastor, and Catastor retrain, Decisive Armor, a retrain of an old synchro with a negate effect, and a Baronne, that'd be pretty cool.

idk... I would have it on the side of the worms. playing the villain sounds fun, and you don't have to explain 4 different decks to the player over the course of the plot

Yeah, whenever they release a solo mode with a good archetype, half the duels are like 'We've mashed together this fun deck with, I dunno, flamvell or something. Good luck, idiot!'. This time it was fun when I drew a single good card.

@@RedWurm One of the most egregious examples is the Rikka gate where one of the duels gives you Sunavalon, and you gotta fight Rose Dragons. Y'know, the deck that tributes your monsters along with field nukes versus Sun-fucking-avalon.

That mode was just not fun to play at all.

Weather Painters is the archetype for masochists.

I know what happened. The dragons ended up being unsealed by the Six Samurai, Infernity and Crystal Beast archetypes years later to use them as weapons of mass degeneracy.

At least Mecha Phantom Beasts are somewhat interesting (and Auroradon is still around in Master Duel)

God no. That's the bottom 1 absolute worst archetype of all time. Only Guardians comentaris even close.
