The irony of this series is that after seeing crazy effects in battle, Doug likes to read the cards post-duel... And actually starts to remember what they do. In other words, dueling without reading is causing him to read *afterwards* and thereby learn... He's not just going to improve going forward in this series; this series is going to help him improve in all his other series!

Fun fact, Tlakalel is a Lair of Darkness support card, which is why his aesthetic is very similar to the Ladies of Lament and why his effect involves tributing.

My favourite part of this series (besides the chaos of the duels themselves) is seeing the finished decks and, knowing what most of the cards do, laughing at some of the inclusions because I know they'll be completely dead, for example Chaos Infinity. The wishful 'I hope I can activate this' and 'wait why _can't_ I activate this?' never get old.

Tlakalel is the continuation of a series of monsters from the original diabolos structure deck, the originals all gained attack based on the attack of what they tributed, but Tlakalel is a more pratical modernization (and it's cool that he has monarch stats).

One of my favorite cards is Glacier Aqua Madoor, so I laughed when Dzeef threw the game, NOT by discarding, but not doing it again.

In the beginning I honestly thought for a second that sam may actually know how to read japanese... then he started actually playing... the results answered for me. No. No he does not. Lol

i think both 20 and 30 packs have merit in this series, 20 packs really forces both competitors to use cards they straight up don't know, which is fun, while 30 packs gives more room to trying to create little "combos" that may or may not work with half-remembered cards, which is cool. I would def be interested in both being a part of the series going forward

You should go back to 30 packs if possible! 20 is just too few to build a deck with any synergies, so the games become very beater-reliant

The right meta for this format would be vanilla beatdown with equip spells and battle traps (in case you don't know the effect of the monsters). Pretty much early yugioh format. Awesome duel regardless! And great collab.

I'd love to see an Archetype version of no reading! Like, imagine putting together a Chronomoly deck without reading a single word of text on those cards. Finding the Solfachord searcher, or the Ogdoadic reborn, without knowing what a single card says.

I can't believe you haven't heard of Tlakalel, His Malevolent Majesty. I've had to enter this thing into Duel Link Meta databases and it is certainly in the Top 2 Tlakalel's I know of.

I really do wish at the end both players would go over their decks more. Gotta say though the 1 amusing thing from this is it's getting players to read and look at a lot more interesting cards because they don't know what they do.

I definitely prefer when you open more packs. I don’t think the appeal of this is to get you to use a bunch of cards blindly, because that just kinda turns into normal summoning big dudes that don’t do anything or setting spells and traps that are just dead the whole game. I think the appeal is pulling cool stuff and seeing if people know how to use them correctly, and having more packs creates more opportunity for that.

What makes this more difficult is that the art work for some of the foreign cards are different so you can’t even go off the art work to remember the effects 😂

That dark door play the 2nd game was crazy

Dzeef's equip spells were nuts this episode, and yet we didnt see a single one. The staff is "Archfiend's Staff of Despair" which on spell speed 1 lowers all opponents monsters Atk by half of the equipped monsters Atk for a turn. The 1000 refers to the LP you can pay to return it to the hand. The guy swinging the sword the wrong way is "Mordschlag" which makes a normal summoned monsters be unaffeted by special summoned ones, and also reduces their atk/def during damage calc. And "White Veil" says your opponent cant activate spell/traps when the equipped monster attacks, opponents Spell/traps are negated during that battle, and if the monster wins the battle, all opponents spell/traps are destroyed. Also you take 3000 damage if it leaves the field, which is why it is banned in events. I knew white veil and Mordschlag in parts, but every single one of these is clearly worth it in restricted formats...

I am commenting this before finishing, but if sam wins without playing phatasm field spell I will be flabbergasted.

As a cubic player, sam could tell me that Vijam the cubic seed requires you to banish 3 cubic names to gain 500 attack per monster on the field and I’d Believe him.
