To be fair, they give Exodia a good send off here, with the ancient arts that sealed away the monsters, even the god cards were confined to one stone tablet, wheras Exodia's might is so great, not only does it require 5 tablets to properly seal it, but whoever unseals it is basically guaranteed to die soon after. It's a beast that the gods probably could never hold a candle too, the only reason Exodia even loses here is because Shimon was one, old, and two, a single human controlling a monster that can barely be controlled in the first place.

The Gods were loyal servants of the Pharoah, Exodia was just a really powerful monster, who could potentially become unhinged on a given day.

The way the final duel should've ended should've been something like Atem resummons the three Egyptian Gods after they were destroyed by Yugi. So 4Kids were trying to avoid getting sued or their shows cancelled by the FCC. So they were being extra careful at the time because apparently they were already in hot water for basically stealing the rights to Yu-Gi-Oh from Tokyo which later ended up bankrupting them. I don't remember the specifics about that one though.

It's unbeatable in the card game, which is how pegasus interpretered the stone tablets. Given the fact that Exodia could destory an entire army, it was unbeatable for humans who didn't know the existence of Zorc.

Yugi Muto The problem is that (in the manga at least) all sealed monsters have originated from a human soul (blue eyes being the only known exception, which is why his sealing was... no without consequences) We don't see a Zorc-vs-Gods fight in the manga, but even Atem had this problem of vital power (in the manga, BlueEyes-vs-BlackMagician occur after the battle with Zorc and he was unable to summon a god, same for the Ra-vs-Diabound fight) But both the anime and the manga agree that Zorc never feared Exodia because Solomon was a single human empowering it, but I don't really know HOW it could be stronger... In the anime, even Atem-powered gods weren't able to keep up against Zork. The only instance of several humans empowering a monster which are not a fusion of eachother Bâ (like Ultimate Blue Eyes, anime-only) is in the anime-only Waking the Dragons arc.

The original card game was designed by Pegasus using references to Egyptian monsters. In the other shows, this game became so big it had professional players. At this point, the game is probably handled by a big organized company which will make everything needed to make it the most popular possible, like how League of Legends tournaments are handled by Riot Games. And i'm pretty sure between "staying with the same old cards from egyptian tablets" and "selling new cards to attract more players", the second one was the decision Industrial Illusion made. In the GX anime, one of the season 1 heroes even create a card based about Australian landscape, which has nothing to do with Egypt.
