Yūki Ishikawa (石川祐希, born 11 December 1995) is a Japanese volleyball player, a member of the Japan men's national volleyball team and Italian club Top Volley Latina.
In 2014 he went to Italian team Parmareggio Modena (2014-2015)[1] Then came back to Japanese team. In 2016 moved to another Italian club, Top Volley Latina. There he stayed as an exchange student while actually still playing for his university. After graduating at Chuo University in 2018, he signed his first professional contract with Italian side Emma Villas Siena.

Yuji Nishida (西田 有志 Nishida Yūji, born 30 January 2000) is a Japanese male volleyball player.
Nishida currently plays for JTEKT Stings, a volleyball club based in Kariya, Aichi, Japan. He made his debut with JTEKT Stings at V.League (Japan) on 6 January 2018 in a match against Osaka Blazers Sakai. His impressive debut at the young age of 17 soon earned him a position in JTKET's Starting 6 [1] as well as Japan men's national volleyball team.
He is one of the youngest players in the 2018 roster of the Japan men's national volleyball team [2]. He made his first international performance with the Japanese national team in 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League. In June 2018, he played a pivotal role in securing Japan's first win in 11 years against Italy where he collected 24 points from 21 spikes and 3 aces [3]. In September 2018, in a match against Argentina in 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship, Nishida became the youngest player ever to score 30 points in a match [4]. In June 2019, Nishida broke serving records in the VNL history after hitting 7 aces in a single game during a match against Bulgaria [5].

Really? I don't really watch much volleyball, I'm here thanks to KZfaq algorithm, but my impression was that he just throws the ball high enough so his best players can spike and it's not always that precise. What exactly makes him good? I could swear sometimes Nishida bends in a weird angle to spike but I don't know if that's just his tendency or the ball was in a bad position. I must repeat I know almost nothing about volleyball though.

@@auguschm I don't think you know who the setter is. A SET can be set by any position but the SETTER is the person the back row receives to for a good set (setters specialize in sets) in this video the setter isn't setting all the time

It's just been a few days and I think I've watched almost all Japan's plays from 2017 to now, and I'm already a fan of Ishikawa, and that man Nishida is really young and talented. Can't imagine how much better he'll be as he gets older. All the best!

Yuki Ishikawa is the best. As he needs to respond for reception, defence etc. and Nishida needs not to respond. And Yuki can still maintain the attack rate above 50%. However, the pressure on Yuki is too high, he needs to respond for both attack, reception and defense. I hope that Japan’s team coach can find a wing spiker that can reduce the stress for receptions and defense ASAP.

There is still Yangida for WS, however we dont see much his appearance in this tournament. Not really sure why, maybe he is injured? I think Japan needs to focus more on their Middle Blocker attack as they rely heavily on heir WS or OH most of the time. Look at Brazil, Bruno + Lucas combo can ease the burden of their WS and OH which also bunch of monsters. More variety = less burden.

@@bryan9185 Yanagida is a good wing spiker undoubtedly. The reason that we don't see much his appearance in this tournament may due to his reception. Why Jpn team always use Yuki and Fukuzawa? It is because Fukazawa can reduce the Yuki's stress in the reception. In this tournament, I think the Middle Blockers are getting better and better. However, the chance of Middle Blockers to score is depended on the reception. If the reception is not good, it is relatively hard to set the ball to MB.

Yuki Ishikawa is awesome. Except for power in spiking, he’s better than nishida in everything else imo. He just does everything so well. Always targeted by the opponents serves, then also participates in the attack. He can also block and set well. His serves also packs a punch. He’s not just all about power. You can see how integral he is on the team.

Both are incredible . Yuji is a beast . His spikes and as an opposite with serves , he is incredible. Yuki is diff . He is more of a versatile player . He can set the ball brilliantly , he has a very good block and he can spike from almost every possible position. Yuji is a one direction beast 🔥 just unstoppable. Yuki is the versatile, intelligent strong one . Both are the spearheads for the team 🔥

Good players are the one who can command their bodies to move as they please. Nishida-san and Ishikawa-san are the perfect examples for that. Being able to hit the ball shortly after receiving a difficult serve/spike, able to do service aces more than once in a row, able to spike and score after giving a powerful service, able to set and block when needed, just how amazing they can be. But of course, the liberos, setters and the other players also play their parts well as a team 😊

Slowly getting more and more OP. Hope they stay healthy tho. I'm not a big fan of their jump landing and it happens way too often. Looking forward to seeing more from these monsters and I hope they keep leading Japan higher and higher.

I love the efforts and unity of teams but team Japan is so amazing 😍❤️ from the stopper to the sitter I love the way it is. Then the spikers is so alert ❤️wow is so wow shida is so impressive spiker but ishikiwa is my favorite ❤️so humbled person ❤️

For his height- Yuji Nishida has an explosive vertical jump and spike. His form is so fluid and full of power.
