Those “spot welds” are so sad!!! Why do governments insist on destroying beautiful pieces of history?

Thank goodness I live in America and can get one that shoots
I’ve read that these rifles had the Chrysanthemum removed or defaced out of respect for the Emperor as the Chrysanthemum signified that it was basically property of the Emperor. I don’t know if soldiers did it prior to battle so if if was captured, it would already be defaced but, I’ve read that the ones that were handed over after the surrender were ground off like that. Sad either way to wreck such beautiful pieces of history.
I can’t speak for current Japanese guns but, among enthusiasts & gun owners who truly know guns… the Type 99 is regarded as one of the toughest, most durable rifles ever produced! Now, as cool as the Nambu pistols are, I know they had issues. But overall, don’t short your country, they produced many excellent pieces of equipment.
