The best part of this episode was after the missed shot as they both sit there looking entirely disgusted and disappointed, Steve goes “hey, look at the way that sun is hitting those mountains.” As if to say “it’s okay, man. How lucky are we just to be here?” I love this guy.

The emotions brant was feeling is hard to put into words. The feeling of possibly injuring an animal creates a pit in you that stays with you a long time. Coming from a hunter who has injured a moose, I’ll never do it again because it makes you rethink everything. Steve handled this so perfectly.

I don’t hunt. I’m not opposed to it, in fact I’d like to at some point. I enjoy cooking and the outdoors so it feels like a great fit. If the guys who work on this show read this, I just want to extend my deepest gratitude for making this show. It feels so much more real than any other outdoor show I’ve watched. I understand we only get to see the highlights (it’s no easy task to distill 10 days into 40 minutes) but there are so many moments where I am in awe of the fact that Steve, Cal, Janis and all the others who have made appearances on this show are active participants in the ecosystem they show off rather than being simple observers. So again, thank you and happy hunting!

I hunt, and have been doing so since 1974. Before that I used to suck my dad into taking me with him when I was too young to legally hunt myself. I only deer hunt now, and making a kill is secondary to me, but I do prefer the taste of venison, properly prepared, over store bought meats. Its been at least 10 seasons since I have gotten a deer, but that does not bother me in the least. There is something about being outdoors, and seeing your hunting buddies for that 2 weeks that makes it special. Anti hunters would never understand, and they also don't realize that those of us that hunt, do far more to preserve wildlife, than their misguided nonsense ever will.

Wow, every episode of this show brings a tear to my eye. I've never had much in terms of family, so there was no one around to teach me how to hunt, and the family I do have refused to take me out because I'm a woman. I would give anything to be in the hills with these men, appreciating all that this world has to offer, and eating the most responsibly sourced meat on the planet. One day I'll be there, one day.

I taught my self how to hunt...deer and then birds with dogs I trained. Read, read, and read some more and you can do it. Deer hunting isn't that hard really.....there is an old Indian saying: "If you sit quietly in the forest long enough, a deer will give itself to you." And it is true. Every time you go out you will learn about hunting and the ways of animals and more so, about yourself. No idea how old you are but don't wait any longer if you are serious. I'm at the point in life where my body is starting to give in to age and it not only scares me but depresses me as well. Best of luck.....we are only here once.

@18:55 I know what you mean. I'm not a hunter but I'm really into fishing and some days when the fishing is extremely tough, I just think about why my nephews and I even took that trip and maybe I should sell all my gear lol. But then out of nowhere my nephews catch a couple 3-4 pound bass and to see their excitement and joy in fighting and holding such a fish brings the passion all back and I realize again the reason why I love fishing so much. Then watching the sunset while we're all out there having fun and enjoying our time with each other just brings it all together and it's the perfect way to end the day.

As a professional moose hunting guide from Newfoundland, Canada. Great job boys. There’s no better feeling than when you have that moose coming on a string, just playing him like a fiddle. Our moose don’t get as big as Alaskan moose, but we sure have a lot.
