A 15-day canoe trip on the Pelly and Yukon Rivers in the Yukon Territory. The trip starts in Faro and ends in Dawson City. Includes highlights of the trip.
Notes:
1. Water levels vary depending on weather, and season. This trip was completed in a very dry year/season at the beginning of July. In higher water, rapids would be significantly more dangerous with high standing waves. Always scout rapids prior to running.
2. The section between Faro and Pelly Crossing was very remote with no other parties seen in 10 days. Ensure adequate training and experience prior to completing this trip and always bring a communication device with you and have a plan for emergencies.
3. For those looking for a lower cost option with a shorter duration, we have also completed the Yukon River (Whitehorse to Dawson City) and recommend it for beginner paddlers who are experienced with wilderness camping.
4. Shout out to Up North Adventures for their professional setup and experience working with us to plan our trip.
5. During summer months, keep an eye on forest fires in the area. This was a significant challenge on this trip and we had several large fires pop up along the route that impacted visibility and air quality.

Haha the camp you stopped in at on day #11 was my Grandpa Tommy's fishcamp.. I built the fish cache (you call it a meat smoker) that you filmed in this.. that's awesome..

Very good. It is a pleasure to watch a video that is not over 50% selfies. I found myself fast forwarding through selfies and cutting a 48 minute video down to 20 minutes and realized the great music and skillful editing wasn't worth watching. Yours kept me glued with the great content. I enjoy watching a canoe trip video that is actually about a canoe trip.

Try the Fish Hook Rapids in high spring water and then tell me they’re not really rapids.

Thanks for this. Would love to speak with you. What do you think of Pelley around May 1 clogged with ice or pretty broken up.

Hi there. Thanks for watching. I suggest checking with a local outfitter in Whitehorse to see when the earliest time to travel the river would be. Ice out on the Yukon River (that the Pelly feeds into) is not until mid may in some years. My guess would be that it won’t be ice free until mid-late May on the Pelly. Our trip was early July.

Hi!! We are planning on doing Faro to Pelly Crossing but in 5 days! Do you think it’s possible?

Hi there. We did faro to Pelly in 10 days I believe and we had 2 rest days in there and spent a fair bit of time fishing along the way. It’s probably doable but you might have some pretty long paddling days.

Was excited to see this river I had never seen. Gotta say though, your video spent most of its time showing what you were cooking and eating. Most that are hunting out canoe vids want to see the canoeing. Thanks for sharing nonetheless
