The other day I needed to get medicated shampoo for my cat (poor thing has bad dry skin but working on it.) The pet supply store I went to had me so angry, about twenty betas in containers probably even too small to travel them home in, not even a barrier between them....With small not even one gallon tanks next to them to be bought with them, not a filter for sale in site. And yet somehow had two bearded dragons for sale in perfect enclosers.... just more proof people see those poor fish as decoration.

i once watched a rabbit enclosure reaction video, and this one person had their rabbit in a small pen with a fish tank and i think it was a goldfish (or turtle not sure) DIRECTLY overtop of the pen, hanging a couple inches off the edge of a pretty unstable looking table. i think you could imagine the hazards here. the fish tank could fall into the rabbit, killing the rabbit and the fish could fall out of the tank and also die, or the tank would break and the same thing would happen. just….what goes through peoples minds…

It's floating green algi sometimes called green water. It's caused by your tank light being too powerful. I had this issue before after getting a plant light for one of my tanks & did a lot of research on it. Here's a few ways to fix it. Tank black out. Your tank must go dark for this method. Meaning no light at all besides to feed your fish. Depending on the severity of your algi problem will have an affect on how long your tank will have to remain dark. After your algi is gone, limit how many hours in the day your tank's light is on or get a dimmer light for your tank/dimmer switch. This is the cheapest way. Another way is to get a UV light system. Either one that attaches to your filter or an external system to filter the water through. It is VERY important that your fish doesn't have contact or access to the UV light itself. So please don't just get a bulb & use it for your tank. The UV light system will kill the algi & all parasites/infections like ick.

The SpongeBob house thing actually happened to me. My pepper Cory got stuck in the squidward house and died so we filled the small holes with corks.

Unrelated but I bought a 1997 fish tank set at the thrift store today, the package had koi in the 10 gallon fish tank, I read the manual and it had a lot of misinformation, it said goldfish were able to live in it, which I know is incorrect. I’m currently setting up my new tank for minnows or brine shrimp. (after I do my research of course) This is my fifth animal terrarium in my room, im so excited!

One time at a county fair I saw a goldfish ping-pong game but the big prize were baby iguanas and parakeets. The goldfish were participation prizes.

My sister had a betta fish and she had this little cute castle decor in the tank. And on the ‘top floor’ of the castle we thought it was solid. One day she kept telling me she couldn’t find her fish, and so I looked all over the tank to see his fins sticking out of the top of the castle. He was alive still, but there was no way at all we could’ve got him out safely. We called our mom who was at work, and once she got home we were still trying to find a way to get him out of there. And later we got him out of the castle but sadly it was too late :( I felt so bad

Just gotten into fish keeping and I have a betta and a Siamese algae eater in a 30 litre with filter, heater, live plants etc.

They’ve got tiny glass bowls like that at my local pet shop. Never heard the employees recommend them for fish (thankfully), so not sure why, but they are great for marimo moss ball displays!

It hurts my soul as someone who owns fish that I adore that people treat them like objects rather than living things. They aren't just objects. They need a lot of care to own. You're basically a chemist and biologist the moment you get a fish. I am always checking the levels in my tank for my babies. Also Hillstream Loaches are some of the funniest and cutest fish I have ever owned and I want MOAR.

I witnessed a horror at a small local carnival, I saw a group of guys win a bag with two goldies, I saw them and they said they didn't think they would win them, so I saw them give the fish to a group of middle school looking girls, they grabbed the bag, the bag leaked on one of their shoes, the girl screamed and threw it up in the air then they picked it up, screamed again, and threw it and the bag popped open, then a group of guys with them saw the fish on the ground then stepped on them. It was very irritating.

I have little story at my school in the little kids area there’s a turtle tank and it as so green like neon green and the turtle had mold on there back and it looked so sad so me and my friends offered to clean it up a bit and after hours it’s was still green I mean we try are best but I still think we could have cleaned it more.

I had algae bloom that bad in my 50 gallon, all it had was my 2 goldfish and one snail for context. I don't know how it ended up like that, I did 20% weekly water changes (that usually made it worst, it went foggy to just green practically overnight). I had a filter for a 40-70 gal tank. I had live plants, real rocks and a bubbler. My water tests were always normal, so I only could conclude it was because the tank was close to the window (Even tho i have a 10 gal betta tank there now and it doesn't get like that)

A sea monkey pen and watch filled with sea monkey shaped beads could be very cute! Putting live sea monkeys in it seems very cruel. But putting charms shaped like sea monkeys in it along with other cute aquatic themed charms definitely would be very cool! See? You don’t have to put live animals into everything. It’d be such a cute idea to have a pen filled with sea monkey shaped things. There are actual liquid filled pens that have glitter or similar things in it, something like that but with sea monkeys would be very cool.

I really want fish but they’re beyond my capability to care for… I’m disabled and because of my specific disabilities and their severities I’m limited on what pets I can properly care for… Maybe someday I’ll have a housemate who has fish since I’ll never be able to have my own.

I have a bizare problem with my 35 gal. The water in it evaporates so rapidly. It looses like 4 cm of water every week. It looks as if I wsn't takeing care of my fistank but I'm doing weekly 15% water change.

Ya know bettas are actually all types of water including fresh, brackish, and salt so that betta would be fine as long as it doesn’t explode at its stomach from eating all the brine shrimp:0

When I was younger I won a gold fish now knowing what I know I wouldn’t win another but we take great care of him he has a big tank clean water good filter yummy food and everything he could want he has never gotten sick or hurt and if we ever thought he was in pain or missruble we would put him down humanly

My 300l tank had a huge algae problem that turned the water that green. I turned the tank lights off and kept them off for 2 weeks and it cleared up

When I was younger I had a betta fish and a 1 gallon tank he was there for about a month and then I upgraded him to a 5 gallon tank and got like four neon tetras all but one died so we went to the store to get more because they we knew that they were schooling fish they told us they needed a 10 gallon so we got them a 20 gallon they all died. My fish got some butter so we moved them back to the 5 gallon tank and he lived a happy life in there until he recently died due to the old age. I regret the old cage so much.

I remember before I started watching soda pets videos I had my fish in a bowl and I swear it was only for like a month but I felt so bad about it I got a ten gallon tank it was only a betta so it was a good sized tank for the space I have I even researched more on it.
