Hey guys if you’re wondering where my video before this went (the TikTok video) KZfaq has unfortunately removed the video and gave my channel a warning for “violence and graphic content” which there was none of. So far I can’t seem to get the video back so not sure if it will come back :/ super confused about it.

Hi, i have been trying to answer this question for around 2 months now. Unfortunately none of my friends know much about animals so i have migrated here in hopes of finding an answer. :) This is purely theoretical but say i ‘did’ have a chihuahua that i disliked very much, from what hight would i have to drop it in order to make it explode on impact with the ground? .-. i have done a few tests already with chihuahua sized objects however the results remain inconsistent and it is unclear weather to go within a range of 2-3 or 5-7 story buildings. I would also prefer a larger splash range in the instance of children passing the foot of the building. If lucky i may be able to not only eliminate my ‘theoretical’ dog but also manage to traumatise multiple small children with the scattered remains of it’s ‘theoretical’ body. As mentioned previously, any help on this project would be greatly appreciated, much thanks Your Average Reddit User

There was a Reddit post a few years back (I think r/bridezillas) where a bride was convinced that having 2 goldfish in a bowl as center pieces would be a lovely idea to represent their marriage because they were animal lovers and all that. When asked what they were going to do with 100+ goldfish after the ceremony, she expected some of the guests to take home one or two of these goldfish as a party favor, which, obviously, didn’t happen. According to Op, only one of the fish survived.

This reminds me of the goldfish I used to own as a kid. It’s like I did everything wrong, I got two baby comets from a fair game of all places. When I got home of course I didn’t have anything ready so I put them in a glass vase. I finally got them in a ten gallon tank but obviously they outgrew it. I then convinced my parents to get a 30 gallon tank which would have been great but it barely had anything in it, and they outgrew their hide. Their filter was usually filthy all the time, I would do a full water change and empty the whole thing. At least I used water conditioner and salt on the tap water I used to fill it but I would put the poor things right back in after a few hours instead of letting it cycle through. I’m amazed looking back that they didn’t get sick, or maybe I just didn’t notice. They were hardy little things though, they kept growing and got to the length of my hand, still beautiful fish. I finally did some research and found out to my surprise that they were pond fish. I still loved them a lot so I actually researched building a pond in our back yard until I just had to give up, I finally accepted that I couldn’t care for them. Luckily the story has a happy ending because I posted them on Craigslist, being picky about the offers until a woman responded who had a big outdoor pond! She loved fish and it was her passion hobby to care for them, so I said my good byes and gave them to her! I feel so bad for the bad care I gave them, even though I was a kid my parents could have stepped in or I could have researched sooner. Goldfish are just assumed to be fine with anything which, being so hardy makes sense, but they deserve the best care too. I’m so happy I was able to find them a good home and I hope they lived their best life. I know giving up pets is hard, but the experience has made me thoroughly believe in rehoming pets when you get more than you bargained for. Sometimes you just can’t handle it and you and the animal will be happier finding them a better home

This is so much like my story with my goldfish, Goldie. I got him from the fair when I was 11 and was absolutely clueless about how to take care of goldfish and I didn't do any research! I didn't use water conditioner, didn't have a filter (only a bubble stone) always did 100% water changes and he just lived in a bowl for a while. At some point when he was still pretty small, he got a parasite (I now know it was a fish louse) and thankfully, it went away on it's own, but I became close with him after that and got him a 10 gal. After a few years, I noticed him having what I now now is swim bladder problems and thankfully some nice people at a local Petco helped me get him water conditioner and a filter. He stopped having bladder problems, but still was stressed, so I moved him to a 30 gal. I started doing all the research I could and then got him a 55 gal, but he was still stressed, so I tried so many medicines and water treatments, but none seemed to work. Finally, I called a fish vet and she said that he's actually pretty strong and fairly healthy and the only problem is that he has slight abnormal tissue growth in the gills and fin ray fractures (fin fractures are normal for long tailed fish), which I was very glad to hear wasn't some huge or life threatening problem. She told me to use salt to help his gills and even though he still seems stressed sometimes, I can always count on him being happy around feeding time. This whole experience has made me a much better owner and have a closer bond to him over the years. I regret so many countless mistakes I made in the beginning, but all I can do is make it up now right? Now he's 7, almost 8 and in his 55 gallon tank, he still struggles with health issues from time to time, but is overall, amazingly strong. I love him dearly :)

Ugh, Goldfish bring back painful memories. I bought some and had them in a 10 gallon tank with plants and everything. Folks said that I 'wasted money' on them and a bowl would just be fine. I loved them lots! I went away for a couple of days, had a friend come and feed them. Right after I got home, we had a blizzard and I was unable to go anywhere, and they suddenly turned up with a terrible case of Ichthyophthirius. Everything was shut down. I did what I could, but I had no medication to treat them. Within 12 hours they were dead. I felt so guilty and cried. I will never again have any 'small pet' without having an emergency kit of medications and treatments already on hand.

not buying them in the first place is probably the better option. you're basically paying someone to breed animals into existence just to keep them in a place they don't belong to. this is considering you absolutely know what you're doing and are gonna give the fish a good long life without causing it an early death and then moving on to the next fish.

Had two girls on my wp team talking about maybe getting fish today, I gave a little advice about tank sizes and lifespans when they asked. One of my teammates was really nice, the other was completely skeptical the whole time and looked at me like I was crazy for suggesting that bettas should have 5 gallons, and that goldfish can live up to 20 years. It's not really her fault, but honestly I'm just baffled where the mindset that ''they're just fish, they die in a month, it doesn't matter" keeps coming from. I know they're not really an equal comparison, but if you talked about dogs like that, people would be outraged. Tw maybe?* "They're just mastiffs, they only live 6 years, who cares?"
@TRexRAWWR1

@mammoneymelon
@mammoneymelon Жыл бұрын
people see aquatic animals as decorations, unfortunately. it really sucks how little people care about animals just because they're smaller and you can't pet them also, as someone that has a turtle and a mastiff (who's about 6-7 years old) that comparison broke my heart because it's the exact same thing. i know that big dogs have shorter lifespans but i think most people would agree that you should still love and care for them since keeping them happy and healthy allows them to live long and happy lives, so i don't get why people don't have the same mentality when it comes to other, smaller animals. lots of people have pet turtles that don't live super long because of neglect and poor care, so it feeds the idea that they're a good present for your kid ("they'll only live a few years anyway") when the reality is that their shortened lifespan is typically the result of letting them get sick or keeping them in awful conditions (and the same goes for fish)

You can have really really cool fish for restaurants or hotels ect, but they have to be proper aquariums. Think the animal planet show tanked, they knew all about each fish they used, mandated the tank size to be at least the required space, used tons of tank plans and decorations, had proper filters, and would even explain all the cleaning and maintenance. They also never housed fish that would attack each other even if the client wanted it. They actually cared about the safety of the animal. (Ps I really hope this doesnt age poorly cuz as of now to my knowledge they have a good rep)

For my nephew’s first birthday, we had goldfish bowls as table centerpieces. Now the family themselves kept 5 (they now have Glo fish that have an excellent tank- I see it cleaned often, so they have learned from their mistake couple years prior) and I took the remaining 30ish. I lived over an hour away, but we had a cooler from the party left over. Now all the bowls themselves would have been a nuisance, so I put all the fish into the cooler to transport them. When I got home 3 were dead. Thankfully I had a tank left over from my own fish, so I could house them for the time being. The last fish died about two weeks later. So I generally dislike the notion of these fish being used for table decorations, even if they do keep the kids entertained for about 10 solid minutes and few second intervals.

yeah, and the way people treat them is disgusting, especially because they get massive and live 15-20 years in the wild, whereas in captivity they live an average of 2 years.

8:55 the issue with the tank is the lack of hiding spaces. With multiple fish of different size and breed there’s a lot of challenges with fighting. It’s important they have someone to rest while that tank looks way too empty. It doesn’t need a ton more but more coverage it absolutely needed. A lot of fish are eaten by other fish with tanks like those. Usually 3 is fine with close watch but more than that can be much harder to handle. And watching won’t always solve the problem because larger groups work faster at abruptly deciding who they want gone.

OMG! No way I was just randomly looking at goldfish on KZfaq and I cannot believe you came across my Reddit post. That was a 55 gallon tank (200 plus liters) with a fluval 407. You would be happy to know that all of those fish are doing really well and I have a newer post where I show off my 120 gallon (450 liter) tank. I transferred all my fish to that 120 gallon and the 55 is being used for bristlenose and clown plecos.

got so triggered on hamster subreddits cuz ppl would post pics of their dead hamsters asking what happened to them after bad care and I would scroll and see dead hamsters just as I recently lost my old baby 😵 moderators didn't care, I'd tell them and 5 days later they'd reply "yeah it's removed whatever". So not only ppl were insensitive but also breaking rules that weren't enforced. Went there to share or give advices if needed and left with the sight of a dead pet in mind for a while.

My goldfish died last Saturday, I was feeling extremely depressed and every pet shop I went to either wouldn’t sell fish to me or didn’t sell fish in general. For some reason, all of the goldfish (the same breed and colour of mine) were all getting sick like mine did and were dying. Tomorrow I am hoping to get my very first Betta fish! Wish me luck and enjoy all of your fish friends ❤

I have a tetra with a little tumor. I have tried everything to treat him and nothing has changed. After all my research I have come to the conclusion it is a case of Lymphocystis which has no treatment. Fish diseases are weird and can be hard to diagnose. I can say the little tetra is doing well. Chases other tetras, eats like a pig and comes over to see me schooling with the others. I KNOW if I start to see him struggle it will be that time. However, given his life seems to be pretty normal as of right now he will remain with his buddies.

They can get huge and are dirtier than usual fish. Care and understanding of animals changes overtime and just because he thinks it looked ok doesn't mean the fish was happy or healthy. There are professionals that talk about animal care you can find online, books, and some pet stores have free pamphlets or the staff that can talk about their care. It's hard to change someone's mind but I hope this at least helps.

I had an opaline gourami that actually recovered from dropsy on it's own with no treatment. It's scales were sticking out like a pine cone and it was bloated and it didn't swim right. After a weak it looked and acted completely normal, but it did die a few weeks later so I don't know, but it was also an adult when I got it so it might have died from old age. Even though I probably had it for almost a year. Very confusing.

You can actually do big water changes without crashing the cycle. The bacteria live on the surfaces, not in the water column. So as long as you don't scrub or let your decor dry out, you shouldn't crash your cycle, even with a 100% water change.

I was working for my dad's Handiman Business, and one of the people had 2 commet goldfish, a common goldfish, a black moor, a fan tail goldfish, a common pleco, and a coi in a 30 or 35 gallon tank, and a heater set for 85°F then the next time I came there, to help him the water was beneath the filter, so far to the point where the filter quit working, the common goldfish was gone, and the fantail and black moor both had dropse, all the fish were gasping at the surface, and I smelt the water, because they clearly hadn't done a water change (but it didn't smell bad), and the water smelt like dawn dish soap, and the water was cloudy both times (I never came back to that job, because I just felt awful for those fish)

i knew someone who had a pretty big goldfish in like a 10 liter tank. Few plants, think it had a filter. But there was something clearly wrong with her: She was almost always upside down and wouldnt move. not even gills or fins moving, seemingly for hours ata time (she was alive, sometimes shed be swimming, though clearly struggling to). They never took her to the vet, just kept her like that. They thought it was funny.. tank was also often pretty dirty. I didnt know anything about fish back then, and assumed it was something neurological perhaps. practically begged them to take her to the vet already (and get a bigger tank). They never did, didnt see the point. Dont know what happened to her, but i hope they eventually did something at least
