I'm SO confused on how they LEAVE IN parts where animals fall off tables and are LITERALLY dead. It's not like they forgot and let their mistakes slip, they literally aren't even trying to hide it, they do edit their videos.

Sad but true, as long as they think people won't notice. I worked at a kids location once and we had a couple events raising pupas to butterflies, and baby praying mantis. The company was getting publicity shots and one of our regulars age 3, was asked to hold her palm out flat to hold a baby praying mantis. The child promptly closed her hand and squashed it dead, I'm sure not out of any malice (she was a sweet little girl), I think she just didn't understand the instruction, maybe got confused or overwhelmed with us employees and the photographer. Yea the newspaper still published the picture of the girl with the dead mantis in her hand. What's the difference, right? *sigh*

In most western countries it is a crime but the sentences are a joke at best. In the UK the maximum sentence for animal cruelty is 6 months and a ban on owning animals but usually the abuser gets a fine or community service and the ban is only temporary and easily circumvented. I also think many of these videos are filmed in countries where there are no animal protection laws so there is nothing stopping these people other than the court of public opinion so maybe one day you could be the one who changes that.

It’s a really really stressful experience, even if you have the right tank requirements, this is because your moving them out of their home without a warning. But this footage was completely over the top! They really shouldn’t have taken the axolotl out with their hands, being brought out of the water and being touched by a hand is really damaging their slime coat. Not to mention the water was pretty shallow and their were fishes everywhere! Thanks for addressing this video! Keep it up!

If they are only in it for the monetized views, you could even argue that they'd make MORE money by using fake animals/toys: 1. They wouldn't have to replace toys as often as the real animals who die from abuse, stress, etc. 2. They could set up a store or a sponsorship/affiliate to sell they same type of toys they feature.

I tell her to stop watching those videos but I don't think she understands... Another video I saw was the took a flipping axolotl to a beach, a salt water beach and let it swim. They then took it out of the water and it died... they said "AWWWW look it's sleeping" 0_o and as someone who owns an axolotl all I can say is- what the absolute f***??? Seriously, are adults this dumb? (No offense to those who are actually knowledgeable on how to take care of an animal-- like keeping an aquatic in water...) 10:14, exactly... don't pet an axolotl as if they are cats or dogs-- they has delicate slime coats.... an occasional boop is fine but-- wow. these youtubers...

It was a small container and I had only meant to bring them for the day and then release them, but the teacher had me keep them at school. I researched why the axolotls face might be swollen! Someone wrote this! "This sounds just like what happened to my axolotl Fang before she died. It was a case of a swollen jaw as if she was choking, and curled gills but there was absolutely nothing she could have choked on in the tank + the parameters checked out just fine. I THINK she was experiencing heat stress or stress from temperature change due to a water change i did the weekend she died. I know this post probably means nothing because you say your water is cool, although i thought i'd share what happened to mine since the symptoms are so similar. Ah yes... KZfaq bashes on people doing doing educational videos about human anatomy and bodily functions, people that show medieval arms and armor in a really fun educational way but they ignore these and those videos of horribly mislead "live feeding" that is less of a "give a live rat to a big snake" but rather a "give a random animal that's barely small enough for the other animal to eat and look at how both struggle and possibly suffer". I mean yea... A lion hunting a gazelle in the wild might not be a quick deal and the lion could get injured... But if you feed pets it should be as save as possible while being as natural as possible... Edit : As pointed out in the comment below, even for bigger snakes live rats can be hazardous and I've heard some controversy about feeding live rats. I'm not a reptile owner and the most likely non mamal pet I might aquire would be a pacman frog or a pair of dumpy frogs... Those will get live insects... But even if I get a pacman and it gets big I wouldn't give it live mice even if they would fit in its mouth...

@@draalttom844 yea... I'm not a snake person... I will definitely add that as an edit to my comment.. I knew that if you do give rats to big snakes owners have to make sure the rat gets killed quickly and one has to take the rat out if the snake doesn't show interest. As far as I know it's always a bad idea to just leave prey animals in an enclosure without checking that they are spotted, killed and eaten in general... And that is my basic knowledge from watching the occasional reptile video by people like Soda, Snakediscovery, Clint etc. purely for entertainment as I am most likely to get a frog if I'll ever get a pet that's not a mammal.

I will likely get a frog and I'll feed it live insects with a tong as suggested by suppliers like joshes frogs. Apparently it's not as easy to keep dead insects as nutritious as frozen thawed mice... But I would definitely always make sure that every feeder gets eaten and that there won't be any staying in the enclosure... Depending on the kind of frog I'll get I might even move it into a separate container for feeding...

your axolotl pet peeve reminded me of my personal pet peeve involving cats: i see so many people in "funny pets lol ecks dee!!" compilations squishing the pads of cats (otherwise known as toe-beans) and i never see comments of people saying that its harmful to the cat, even though it is. whenever you squish the pads of the paws it hurts quite a bit to the cat, which explains why the cats always bring their claws out in the videos when that happens. what annoys me the most is the people go "OMG WHY DID THEY DO THAT??? THEYRE SUPPOSED TO LIKE IT" like cats only bring out their claws like that in defense, maybe try thinking for once and realize that what youre doing harms it?? its not that hard to come to that conclusion my dude
@stinky59
@stinky59 2 жыл бұрын
eek i hope this doesn’t come off as arguing since I 99% agree with u!! yah it’s generally a super sensitive area and I’m sure it does hurt for some cats. but i don’t think it’s universal that cats experience Pain when their paw pads are touched, it’s probably very irritating for the majority of them tho. I consider myself a cat nerd since I volunteered at a cat shelter for a while and when I was really excited to get my own cat in middle school I read this long research book about cat science and why they act like they do (lol if I can remember the name I’ll find it, its kinda neat) but I’ve never heard anywhere before that it hurts if someone squishes their paws. when the cat shelter was training the volunteers how to pet cats correctly and where not to touch, they just told us that the paws are sensitive and the cat is irritated/annoyed by it. so I think it’s more like a ticklish area than a painful one tbh but it’s still not good to make your cat angry especially for fun, since they can hold grudges lmao. but basically I think it depends on the individual cats and their level of friendliness and touch-sensitivity. I’m lucky enough to have a very chill cat that will let anyone touch her paw pads and stomach, she’ll be happy and purring through Anything except for being picked up. for some reason being lifted/carried in particular is what makes her start kicking and growling lol. but anyways I’m sure the “funny” videos of cats getting angry from having their beans touched are the result of people seeing footage of a few very calm cats like mine who do enjoy or at least tolerate it, and then assuming every cat is supposed to be like that :(

Oh my gosh. Those videos were disgusting. It's so frustrating when they say like "oh, they weren't in these conditions for long" or "they liked it" or "they're fine actually" because kids will accept that at face value without seeking out the information as to whether or not this is actually okay. I think they infringe one every single one of the five freedoms of animal welfare. Clearly they aren't given the right to be free from illness and injury, considering we've seen the axolotl and their messed up face. They are not free from stress considering the excessive handling. When they touch the alligator/attempt to touch the alligator it snaps at them which is a pretty clear cut sign they are stressed. The goldfish gasping is another example of the stressing of the animals. They aren't free to express natural behaviours since a fish can't really do much in a small barren bin that doesn't even cover them. How's a fish supposed to be able to swim when their belly is constantly dragging along the floor. They're not given the freedom from discomfort since that poor axolotl is probably uncomfortable or in pain. Tying gauze around a hamster is most likely uncomfortable for the hamster. The only thing I'm not 10000000% sure of is the freedom from hunger and thirst. Technically the lack of continual access to fresh, clean, drinkable water does block does encroach on that right. We don't know what their diet and water situation exactly looks like though. Because of all these factors I think it is well within reason to call these actions animal a*use
