I don't understand why announcers are instructed to say Messier was a tough player. He couldn't fight at all and couldn't take a hit?! Watch video of him during pile ups or scrums and watch how he quickly pairs up with a little player or a euro that has never thrown a punch in his life. He also throws tantrums after he's pulled away from a scrum by a ref as if he wants to fight but when he's in it he never fight! You'll never find a video of him dominating another fighter in a fight. He simply could not fight and threw his elbow to a players head when they were going to hit him. He was a flat out pussy. He passed the 2nd round just 3 times in 16 years as a Captain! That's not great! He hung around from 1998 to 2004 missing the playoffs in each of those 7 straight years and put up an average of just 15 goals and just 42 points in each of those years! Thats pathetic!
