Dan, a lifelong inventor and builder, retired and built several amazing spaces on his property to use as unique Airbnbs. In the process, he’s found that hosting interesting people from around the world gives him purpose and is as rewarding as traveling. His property features a two-story treehouse with an elevator, a cozy yurt, a super-cool man cave, and an old-timely miniature town which he calls "Danville."

Would you consider hosting guests on your property if you had a unique Airbnb? Would you do it in your seniors years, or right now?

Yes, I would totally host if I were able to. (I’m almost 60, but a car crash 12 years ago caused chronic pain that limits me about 10-20% of what I used to do.) We have hosted about 150 lake parties in our backyard, so I know we’d enjoy air bnb. Our home owner’s association wouldn’t allow for extra living spaces on our property, though. This video was special because the host has such a big heart and you can see that he’s having fun, too. Thanks for sharing this!

We had our wedding here! Dan and his family were the most amazing people. We rented the man cave and the yurt for overnight guests. It was definitely the most amazing and beautiful experience of my life. Could not recommend a cooler place to stay!

As much as I just love that Yurt treehouse, the shower that it has doescnot provide anywhere NEAR enough privacy for Me!! If a Person gets close enough to the pathetic excuse for a wall surrounding the shower are He or She can very easily peek in there and see Me naked.

This is the first time a tiny house video has made me cry. What a wonderful man he is, just hearing the way she touched his life just by staying there. My son and I stayed in the Inn in July of last year. We had a great time. Dan is a sweet gentleman. We live within 30 minutes of his place now and should schedule a revisit. If you enjoy unique places like this, Dan definitely provides the means to relax. Goat happy hour is lots of fun too.

I absolutely love this, and his story of the married couple made me cry. I really hope that he has someone that helps him maintain the property. And that cares as much as he does, to carry this project on for many more years to come.

My husband and I spent a weekend at Danville with Dan a few years back. He was very welcoming and wonderful to chat with. We stayed in the main house which is beautiful, incl. its own movie theater and the town front of Danville in the main hangar out front is so innovative. his place is so wonderfully imaginative and craftsmanship that has gone into each separate structure is so, so impressive. We do not hesitate to recommend a visit to Danville.

Gosh, I’d love to visit there and to meet this great human being! I’m a 71 year old American woman married to a 74 year old Swedish man and I have been living here in Sweden with my husband for 23 years. The thing is, if we ever visit the States again, we’ll be traveling to California to visit with family, but I will tell everyone about Danville!

There is so much to admire about this man it’s hard to know where to start. It takes a visionary to create all these very unique, whimsical settings and bring them to life. I love the way he uses materials like an airplane hanger, sheep troughs and the airplane thingamajig (hot tub), and seamlessly blends them into the environment and includes all modern conveniences and luxuries. Four successful careers doesn’t happen by chance, and it’s a joy to see him having so much fun creating this Air BnB theme park. In addition to all that talent and creativity this kind, humble man has a giant heart. Its evident he loves people, enjoys learning about them as much as he loves giving them a stay full of fun and surprises. What an great guy he is, he’d be fun to just sit and talk to. This man knows how to do life right.

Very well said. There is no doubt that any amount of time spent with Dan would be enjoyable & uplifting. His gracious nature is evident. What a blessing he & the couple, who's wife had a brain tumor, were to one another. Those are the moments that touch our hearts, our souls & enrich our lives beyond measure.Truly blessed! Heck, I feel blessed just hearing Dan share their story. Thanks so much for this video. Gonna have to go to Florida so I can visit Dan at Danville.

My husband and I stayed in the tree house and it was one of our favorite trips. We didn’t leave the property for 3 days!! So much to explore and do. Dan is such an amazing soul. We will never ever forget this trip and will definitely be back ❤️❤️

This is pretty much what I want to do. Buy a decent sized chunk of property and build a dozen or so different styles of tiny house and rent them out as AirB&Bs.

Wow….this video came to me just as I’m almost finished remodelling a shed in my garden into a Tea House….a friend had suggested I rent it sometime as a retreat of sorts….I kinda laughed saying ‘who would want to do that?’….maybe not such a far fetched idea after all😍 Thank you kind sir for inspiring us to grow and become better as we age with grace💖🙋🏼♀️

If your friend suggested you rent it out, and your friend is someone who makes good decisions, you should give it a shot. If you don't want overnight guests, you can rent it for the day as a sort of writers' retreat (or something similar).

This is one of the most emotional stories I have heard in a long time, And just think it all started with what is an AirBnb, It is truly amazing and I love how it gave Dan a purpose to keep moving and a chance to meet so many different people, especially the couple that came back for the end of her Journey for which she wanted to include Dan. Although you are obviously a mature and responsible man, you have kept a playful side to your personality. I love that! How I wish I could visit your empire! (Too bad Florida is so far from Arizona.) Will be 52 in April 2022. Mother Daughter destination found! God bless you.
