This 10 May float tube adventure in Howard County, MO tales [;ace at a public body of water and represents Part 1 of the whole story.
It focuses on the "chasing pattern" where bass are triggered into striking by moving lures. Part 2 of this story (released later on) will take a look at what I'm calling the "Squatter" pattern where bass stay close to structure and react to soft ElaZtech lures in PB&J color that is fished slowly with a Texas rig.
The back story is that until three weeks ago, all the submerged structure in this body of water was high and dry up on the banks. However, the heavy rains in late April and early May have filled the impoundment to over full pool. More water continues to pour in and there is abundant debris floating and in the water, portending a great season yet to come..
A Power Finesse Sling Blade and a regular Sling Blade spinnerbait, both rigged with Slim SwimZ trailers, were very effective for triggering strikes from chasing bass, especially near the shoreline and submerged logs and brushpiles.
Rudie Tootie, Papillon Pro Outfitter, has a nice cameo for his fans and his girlfriend Leila makes a noisy cameo as well.
Sparky receives a nice casting lesson, but was otherwise not injured in the making of this video (hahaha).
Enjoy the show!
