Absolute steal by the Sabres! Some of our fans have been debating his size but I think you nailed it here. GM Kevyn Adams has also pointed a lot of this out. There is an incredible 9 minute video on KZfaq breaking down his playmaking. This kid is gonna be great. A lot of the young Sabres have size. They just need to grow into their bodies.

One thing about Benson with an eye test is he looks like Crosby making plays out there. I’m not saying he’s Crosby but just the way he makes some plays with his playmaking reminds me of how Sid looks when doing the same play. I think the size definitely helps in the similarity *Update: The hard working battle on the boards is also a similarity I found to Crosby

The Sharks picking him makes sense, although Grier has said he’s going to pick someone with skill ( a la Smith/Michkov) Benson is interesting, but I don’t know if we pick him at 4..
@sharxboy
@sharxboy Жыл бұрын
I could see us taking him at 6 or later, maybe trade down a couple picks? We really need a young centerpiece to anchor the organization, I don't think Benson fits that role. His superlatives remind me of Pavelski as does the size. While Pavelski was often fantastic and gutsy, he also would have long stretches of no goals and few points.
@Laniccal

@@sharxboy I can't imagine Grier trading down from 4. The top 5 is at the very least guaranteed to get you someone that is NHL-ready. I will say that if Grier lets Tim Burke cook, we may be doomed and get a bottom-sixer at 4

Shannon..what makes a draft deep…this year compared to other years..Thanks! 🌟✅
@bojanb4764
@bojanb4764 Жыл бұрын
I'm not Shannon, but what's making this draft deeper then usual is the fact that top 4 guys are as good as a number 1 guy in other years. Then the following grouping of 5 or 6 players is as good as players that would be picked 4th or 5th overall in other years. After that, it kind of levels off to usual years, so the depth of this draft is in the top 10-15 picks IMO. It's not the 2nd round or 3rd round.

A human keeps on growing until 20-21 and adding weight isn't that hard with the right diet and training, as long as you don't suffer from hyper thyroidism or some other nasty thing. It's as stupid as companies asking for a 21 y/o right out of college, but with 10 years work experience.
