I can't believe how a city lets property get so overgrown and doesn't do anything about it. Spencer and Zach, this place looks good. I bet the neighbors are happy.

That's pretty typical unless it's abandoned and obviously used by people as a known drug house. THEN it becomes a public nuisance. Things like overgrown lawns, although annoying to see or drive by, aren't necessarily a public nuisance.

It would be worth the city's time to seize ownership and offer it to a homeless family. Give them a line of credit (say $5K) at the local hardware store and say - if it passes inspection in twelve months, ownership of the house becomes yours.

Great job, as always. 👏👍🙂 It never ceases to amaze me that the neighbors don’t pitch in… if nothing else, just maintaining the side yards that border their own driveways. Seems like it would keep creepy crawlies and other vermin at bay, and make one’s own driveway more functional and safe. 🤷♀️

Not my property, not my job. Why should I have to clean two yards, when the city should be taking care of the house THEY condemned? Isn't that why people pay taxes? Grateful for this guys work, but it amazes me the lack of communication and care from the city. I don't blame the neighbors at all. They didn't decide to abandon the house next door, ya know?

I hear your very valid points. But rather than live with that mess next to my own driveway, I’d at least mow the strip between my property and their fence or house. It would benefit me as well as be a gesture of kindness to the neighbors in general. To each their own.

Many of these lawns are in modest, working class neighborhoods. The neighbors may struggle to buy the gas to mow their own lawns. They may be working two jobs are not have the time. They may have small children to watch. Everyone should stop being so judgmental about the neighbors. We don't know why they don't mow their neighbor's lawn.

Wow. I surely didn’t mean to come off as “judgmental”. My comment was actually a little bit selfish-I’d want to feel safer and more comfortable in my own driveway by pushing back the weeds…. Also, kindness costs nothing. Modest neighborhoods? Not sure cost of gas whenever Spencer is, but around here it hovers at just $4 per gallon. If you don’t have less than $4 and a few extra minutes, it’s not a “modest” neighborhood. And I still don’t understand why neighbors don’t help one another (and themselves) out a little bit. Because of principles? Poverty? 🤷♀️

Great job guys! This may come across wrong but if I lived next to a house and knew it was vacant, and it was getting tall, and clearly no one was cutting it. I would cut it instead of letting it get that tall. But that’s just me, keep up the GREAT work Spencer!!!

I believe the cut grass stays in the yard. It is great ground cover & helps the grass underneath grow. I’d ballpark something like this would cost close to $350-$400.

At this time in Australia it’s summer, yesterday reached 40C. In the past two weeks we have had devastating bushfires here in Victoria with loss of homes. Seeing the overgrowth you clear up amazes me how the authorities can let this happen. Don’t know who is responsible but it needs addressing.

1 man, two days, 9 hours a day should be about $450 a day minimum. labor/fuel/vehicle/equip/insurance etc note: a corporate entity would likely bill the city around 2.5 to 4 times that amount.Shareholders must get their handouts from the work of others...it's the LAW 😁
