NO! Not for me at all. I can get just as much power by using Power Grips straps. With Power Grips you have power for the entire pedal rotation just like clip in pedals. I also have Molletta Bici Band handmade pedal straps. I use All city Wallner pro, and Cecil Pro pedals on my track geometry velodrome ready bikes. I love Chrome and Five Ten cycling shoes. Chrome cycling shoes have a shank so you have efficient power for the entire pedal stroke, and they look like stylish street shoes. Five Ten shoes have a soul that sticks to the pedal and almost feels like you are clipped in, a shank, and they also look like stylish street shoes. For winter riding I have Chrome 415 Storm Workboots and Five Ten Freerider EPS Mid shoe. The Chrome Workboots are waterproof leather. The Five Ten Freerider EPS Mid shoe is DWR treated leather and insulated with PrimaLoft, so they keep your feet warm with a pair of Chrome wool socks. I wear Chrome wool socks year round, They keep your feet warm in winter and cool in summer. I also have Spoon Spank 90, Stamp 2 small, and Odyssey Trail Mix pedals. Sometimes I use Hold fast grips, depending on the bike. I have a 29plus single speed for snow and icy conditions. I have a lot of bikes lol. 3 of them are track geometry velodrome ready. I live close to the Detroit Velodrome! One is a 29plus single speed for snow, ice and sand. One is a commuter fixed gear I can also ride in lighter winter conditions and rainy weather. I am getting two more soon. A Surly Steamroller frameset, as soon as they are back in stock in mid April, and a Surly Lowside if I can find one in my size. They are discontinued. It's a giant BMX type bike single speed with tire clearance for fat tires! FUN! Wheelies, BMX jumps, plus it can ride through snow and sand! Yeah I can talk about bike forever lol

A big downside with clipless pedals is the risk of accidentally unclipping while skidding, especially if there is any sideways movement. Unclipping while skid stopping at a junction is a bit too unreasonably dangerous for my tastes, so I'm replacing my clipless pedals with platforms and straps.

@BeboSaab On a fixed gear must people pull up on the front foot when skidding, which is hard to do without foot retention. That said, I can see the downsides of straps in case of a crash.
@jewellmaster4746
@jewellmaster4746 4 жыл бұрын
BeboSaab Power Grips solve that. They give you full power for the entire pedal rotation just like clip in pedals, and you can easily slide your foot out in case of an emergency or to avoid an accident. I also love Chrome Cycling shoes. They have a shank for full pedal power. I do also have flats with pins, BMX type pedals, and Five Ten shoes, depending on what type of fixed gear bike I am riding. I have a lot of bikes lol

Adding on spoke count - how about concept of "more spokes at rear"? Sheldon Brown states "If you have the same number of spokes front and rear, either the front wheel is heavier than it needs to be, or the rear wheel is weaker than it should be. "
@event4216
@event4216 4 жыл бұрын
Sheldon mentions this as "If you want highest performance" so for general cycling that may or may not be true, but he also notes about "great spoke scam" - how once standard 32f/40r British and 36f/36r rest of world were pushed towards less spokes for sense of lightness and speed.

The DMV tells cyclists to ride the center of the lane if there is not a bike lane. To me, this is not very nice for motorists. Riding closer to the curb does have its risks, but drivers appreciate when you work with them. What is you opinion on this?

I have tried many sources and tried to ask faith gear through multiple channels but they didn't answer (no hate) and ended up buying them through a japanese proxy service which took me two tries because many sellers forget that they don't even have them in stock anymore lololol. Advice #1. Learn when you stop pedalling on a ride. Then learn not to do it. I used to stop for a cpuple of seconds when I crested a climb. I stopped doing that pretty soon after riding fixed. A friend of mine didn't notice until rodong fixed that they stopped pedalling to fart.... Everyone has their own "stop pedalling moment". Lwarn what ot os and stop doing it... Or be ready for launch. 😮
