Another good episode guys! I'm inclined to agree with most of your thoughts on Pirates 5. Doesn't seem like the fervor for Jack Sparrow is there anymore which isn't a bad thing (he is a villain if you think about it). Still, great show and keep it up!

Stopped this video at 50 mins...went and saw Pirates 5...came back to listen to the rest. I'm committed. Also Salazars Revenge is such a shit dreadful title and I don't know why they changed it. Everyone in my screening laughed a lot during this film too, they had a jolly ol time.

And, to your credit, you usually guess right about what Joss added and what was originally part of the Snyder cut. AND, If I'm talking to the 2017 versions of you, you have no idea what the Snyder Cut even is, but just you wait. (Also wash your hands and avoid crowds, you'll thank me later)

I love the old Universal Monster movies. Some of them are better than others but I enjoy watching them evolve from the early 30's to the 50's. It's like watching the journey of movies. The first two (Dracula and Frankenstein) are almost like silent movies because of their lack of music and use of images to tell the story. But as they go on they start to use more music and become closer to modern movies. I understand how to most modern viewers they would be unwatchable but as someone who loves old movies I enjoy them. Having said that I don't really think it's a good idea to make a shared universe with all of them. Marvel is the only one that has been able to pull it off. All other's have flopped except for maybe the new Godzilla/Kong. I don't really think anyone is calling for this and the new Mummy movie looks pretty bad from the trailers.

The pirate movie left a seriously bad taste in my mouth. I loved this series because I liked Jack Sparrow. This movie portrayed him as a drunk fuck that would sell over his compass for rum. Yes, he was a drunk in the previous films as well, but he was a funny drunk back then. Also, he had awesome moments to cover up the stupid shit he did in the past movies. I really liked the scene where he tricks Salazar but that is the only awesome Jack Sparrow moment in this movie(in my opinion at least). I really agree I would rather take my kid to see the boss baby.

I've heard others happy that they show him as an alcoholic rather than a drunk. I don't know how to feel about it. It's a dumb move to sell the compass, but... if you're an alcoholic that's not as hard to believe.

Valerian looks like it could be either Avatar or John Carter...and that's an expensive gamble. I love The Fifth Element, and hope it's more like that than either of those two...but I'm not confident.

Having seen the new Pirates, I can describe it as this: it's not the worst thing I've ever seen, it's not even really that bad (except for the new female lead, holy crap, she was obnoxious), but it is one of the few movies I have seen that actually feels like nothing. I can't think of how else to describe it, because I mean, how do you describe nothing?

Hopefully Joss sticks to what Zach was already doing, so the tone isn't schizophrenic...but since there was supposedly a lighter tone anyway, maybe he can iron out some of the issues Snyder has with fun and comedy. He does action really well, but landing a joke...not so much. Still, sucks he had to leave under these circumstances. Anyone celebrating it is just an asshole.

i don't.... and heres why... while i admit i wasn't a fan of the brooding superman and batman thing.... I would enjoy this being a arc of them understanding that instead of fighting with each other, they can work with each other and be a stronger family because of it. I'm not saying Marvel happy.... but, perhaps Kick Ass type?

The thing about the women's only screening of Wonder Woman was that allegedly they didn't allow men to work during it. I don't know if this is true, and I have no problem with a women's only screening, but that seems to be what a lot of people are upset about.

Honestly... I love the Pirates films. Completely unironically, I really enjoy Dead Man's Chest and At World's End. On Stranger Tides was forgettable but I remember having fun with it. Dead Men Tell No Tales was just... Awful. It was so utterly joyless while pretending to be full of joy.

I disagree with you guys. I mean, Jack Sparrow isn't incompetent, but he is someone with insufferably uncanny luck. It's a dynamic that I really like about him. His adversaries become incensed with Jack for the bullshit ways he squirms out of trouble. The very first scene in the very first movie you see him in is with him stepping off a boat on to a dock the moment before it completely sinks. I haven't seen this latest movie, and I think the "super lucky" thing can be overused, AND I agree that Jack needs to scheme and have his machinations work out as planned, but he's definitely an absurdly lucky character.

I prefer the Telltale episodic Game of Thrones videogame over the television show. The inclusion of television characters into the game actually ruined an otherwise great experience by making it very obvious they couldn't/wouldn't die despite being the largest pain in the butt characters introduced. Almost literally every other character can or would die, but your chance to exact revenge on certain people was an impossibility from the get go and they served no purpose other than to test our tolerance levels for bullpoop.

I'm a fan of the Pirates franchise, wasn't big on Stranger Tides, mainly because most of the cast wasn't there so was pretty hopeful about this one. It was awful. Like getting the band back together except everyone's shit now.

Harry Uglow Yeah, I think I like 4 more than 5. Yeah, it felt like a side adventure, but I'm okay with that (even though, as the most expensive film ever made, it really shouldn't feel like that). It also looked better, probably because of the "most expensive movie ever" thing. 5... 5 just felt pointless. Like "we made this solely out of obligation" type of pointless.

I can't believe Whedon took this job after his success with Marvel... does anyone else think he'll leave over creative differences? I'd really like him to improve the franchise. He could bring the fun back to Superman and explore his dark side with Batman, but realistically I think the groundwork for shitness has already been laid. Hope I'm wrong. David Gould Because it half arsed the jokes, there was like 6 of them, either dont make any or make more. Dont add 3 or 4 half hearted jokes at the end of the movie when it doesnt call for them atall. If the whole movie had them, it wouldnt have been so out of place. The whole, 'is she with you?' gag immediately after the two of them tried to fight to the death is fucking bizarre and doesn't fit the (admittedly shitty) tone of the movie.
