I feel like because at the time, people weren't fans of how dark bvs was and with zack's daughter, the suits freaked out about him being depressing. Tbh his movies are all a lot more rewatchable than a good chunk of marvel movies because they have soul.

The thing I love about the motif of BvS is that it's the abyss of the hero's journey, but you can also let out any angst you have in it to give it more of a personality.

WB thought they had power by treating Zack Snyder like garbage even when he had such a tragic family moment. And worst of all, WB went ahead and hired Joss Whedon to take over and made the Justice League movie so campy that I'd rather watch "Batman & Robin" (1997) 2 or more times in a row just to get that Justice League movie out of my mind. But Zack Snyder still had a reason to never give up and made a promise to the fans that they will get the Justice League movie they want. And in the end, he kept that promised and proved WB wrong big time. Awesome work, Zack!
