The movie is not based on an existing property, its an idea Zack's had for years. He originally pitched it to Lucasfilm/Disney as a star wars movie but they didn't go for it. After Zack left Warner Brothers and moved over to Netflix to make his Army of the Dead movie he pitched it to them and they agreed to finance it and give him free reign. Its going to be the most expensive movie ever on Netflix.

ZS has composed Rebel Moon "Bible" of over 400 pages. The idea is for Rebel Moon to be its own universe like Star Wars. He's already hinted that hes thinking about a tw show about Belisarius, the leader of the Imperium. In that regards, another influence or allusion is Game of Thrones, since there is court intrigue, and probably a coup in which Belisarius becomes the ruler. Jimmy the android belonged to the deposed Emperor.

is not based on any book or thing do it before, is complete Zacks Snyder vsion of something that he want for a star wars lore, but never got the oportunity to make his vision on star wars universe so he is doing a franchise and a new complete lore and universe, im so hype fofr what he will do and i already tell this looks more awesome than disney make with star wars franchise, this is complete new thing but still you can see lot of influences, so will be great see how he mix all this things and create something crazy good

Good reaction, guys. I have to say that pausing during the 1st initial watch takes away from your reaction. Just a suggestion, but a second followup watch directly after for analysis doesn't take away from your initial reaction and just feels smoother overall for some of us watching.

The creatures are based on mythology. The movie is of science fantasy genre. Space, planets and creatures existed in science fantasy books before Star Wars.

Lucasfilm/Disney (Kathleen Kennedy) biggest mistake for not listening to Snyder's pitch back in 2011. Lucasfilm/Disney hired J.J.Abrams to work on Star Wars 7-9 and it went downhill.

It will be a proof that it's still possible to make a good Hollywood movie. The only thing required is to hire a fan, not an activist :) Zack Snyder never made a single bad movie and this can be his opus magnum ^^
