I was 6 when the park opened, and too young for the Zambezi Zinger. As soon as I was tall enough, that was the ride I spent most of my time on until it was removed from the park. I miss it to this day, not because there are not more thrilling coasters, but because the Zinger gave a rider freedom from the modern restraints which "tame" the fear factor of more dangerous curves, speeds, and drops.

This was one of my favorite rides at Worlds of Fun. I rode it 3 consecutive times back in 1993 with a friend and we always made sure to get the very back car. I remember a sign explaining the physics of how riding in the rear most car made it go the fastest around turns, or something like that. It wasn't scary-it was simply a fun, very unique ride. Worlds of Fun rocked during my visits during the 80's and 90's with the Orient Express, Zambezi, and the Fury of the Nile. My staple as a kid was the Viking Voyager. Anyone else remember the trams that would pick you up at the parking lot and run you right to the front gates? It just seems everything isn't what it used to be, at least through my experiences as a kid/teenager.

this was my favorite roller coaster at WOF. I know the cars were green, not zebra pattern before they did away with it. I do miss the Zambezi Zinger, it was a whole lot better than the boomerang we have now. The boomerang makes me sick.

As a kid growing up in Colombia in the 2000s, this was my introduction to roller coasters. I live in the US now where there are the biggest and wildest coasters, but this one will always have a special place in my heart. Seems like this is a similar story to all of you who got to ride it at Worlds of Fun before 1997. I love how this ride unites roller coaster lovers across cultures and generations!

Whoa, that's crazy! Many of us experienced it as a kid here in the US, then it moved to 🇨🇴 and it was your first coaster there, then you moved here. There's someone who rode it first here as a kid and then moved to 🇨🇴 as an adult for work without knowing it was there and discovered it. He made a video about it. Tan genial 😎 (Pero voy a tener que ir a Colombia para montarlo otra vez 😂)

So cool to find videos like this. This was my first coaster ever when I was 13. I'm from Cincinnati, so Kings Island is my home park (and I love it!) but I was chicken shit to get on a coaster until my dad had business with WoF. So he took the family and turned it into a little vacation. While we there, I was hanging out with my step mom and we happened to walk by this coaster. It looked "easy" enough, so I decided to finally try it. So much fun but we only rode once and now it's in Brazil or something?

I was always scared of roller coasters, especially the ones that went upside down. When I was a kid the only coaster I would ride at WoF was the Wacky Worm. But finally my dad talked me into riding the Zinger, that was his favorite. It was the last ride we went on before the park closed, so I had a night experience for my first real roller coaster ride. It was super scary going up the spiral climb and then zipping around in that zebra striped car then going through the tunnel, but at the end of the ride I wanted to do it all over again. Too bad the park was closing. A couple years later I got to ride it again in 96 or 97 and had a blast. I was still afraid of inverted coasters and would continue to be until my last visit some 8 or 10 years ago. (Thanks Matt) When the Zinger was removed my dad got so upset he vowed to never go to World’s of Fun again. He’s been true to his word.

I could swear it was where the boomerang sits now. I always resented the boomerang for taking its place. I worked in games 3 and had to listen to that puke coaster everyday. Blech!!! Watched a wheel fall off the back car on it one day and they still sent it.

Not been since they removed the Zinger but agree its a real shame its gone especially if it was sacrificed to a boomerang. The boomerang was a novel idea when it came out but when every parks got one they are the biggest and most predictable cliche going aren't they.

***** No no. Mamba didn't replace anything. Boomerang and I think a *tiny* but of Prowler is on the old Zambezi Zinger plot. My Civics teacher from two years ago said this was his first roller coaster. And one of my friends mom's said that this was her first coaster as well and her parents used to drop her and her friends off at the front gates to ride it all day.

awful funny how Worlds of Fun says they couldn't make parts for it anymore but they're operating it in another place so I take it they got an on-site maintenance crew to keep this roller coaster running like Worlds of Fun should have done had an on-site maintenance crew just for the Zambezi Zinger only would have made sense Boomerang sucks they was going to turn the Zinger tunnel into something like a walk through thing for dinosaurs alive but it never went through
@Jason-zv1df7 жыл бұрын
It never was because they couldn't get parts. Its because of the helmet generation of pussies took over. 95 a similar coaster in California with exact same cars with no seat belts had one person fall out and get killed most likely his own fault for standing up during the ride but too late he ruined it for everyone. Plus they put seat belts in everything now even the Taxis witch is plain dumb. On the bright side it now takes 8 minutes to load 1 train these days and coaster accidents nationally are still same average. I'm just glad I grew up in the 80's before all the pussies took over. Oh and the lazy dimwitted kids they have these days working there couldn't even compare to the kids 20 and 30 years ago. This is the generation that's going to do in America all together.
