I've always loved Zappa. But his drug of choice was tobacco, the new chemicalized American version, and it killed him.

One reason he may have been against drugs is that his bandmates got into them and it fucked up his tours! Can you imagine finally getting a group together to play your own compositions and when you tour, they're off looking for coke/crack? It must have been so frustrating for him.

He was a breath of fresh air. He cared about a lot more than just music.

I love Frank Zappa. I was in high school when 'Apostrophe' and "Overnight Sensation' (my favorite albums of his) came out. Unfortunately, Frank was in denial about his own deadly drug addiction -- tobacco.

Saw his longtime sidekick Ike Willis and Co play at World Cafe in Philly a few years back. Played all of Zappas tunes. Thats when I found out Gail had died.

Zappa was one of the earlier woke people in America. Power to Zappa!

I would love to see a biopic of Zappa portrayed by John Turturro

I'm somewhat surprised that he said he wasn't a Democrat because he was certainly far more liberal than conservative on most issues. Then again, he probably thought all politicians were worthless and didn't want to be associated with either party.

The late Brian Ingoldsby told us during an engineering class that during the Hot Rats sessions, a musician was smoking a joint and offered it to Frank. Frank happily took it... and stubbed it out on the guy's arm

Zappa was the kind of person that didn’t need drugs to either see or avoid the insanity of our world. Cool is (his) rule 😎
