Hello, I see you have survived the rabbit hole that I have made, and I'll be honest.... That bit was pretty damn funny. Understandable because, if I found something I thought was weird and just plain out there, I too would be really "wtf." Only had to repair a little bit of vandalism (At least for now). Funny vid btw, fun to see a random game like Zapper getting some spotlight.

Fun fact: Zapper was actually supposed to be a sequel to Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge (which was also developed by Blitz Games) but Konami chose to do the infamous Frogger: The Great Quest instead.

Ironically enough, I first learned about this game from the non-human video game flattening wiki. I actually had to go lie down for a moment when it was brought up because I never expected someone to ever stumble upon it by accident and hearing the name of the wiki mentioned aloud by another person put me in a fight or flight mode for a good 30 minutes.

Interesting story about this game, not sure if it’s officially confirmed but it makes sense: it was first pitched as the third leg of a Frogger trilogy after the two Frogger games on the PS1, but Konami rejected the idea, so Blitz made it on their own with an original character. The game Konami went with instead was “Frogger: The Great Quest,” which ended up a total failure, so… joke’s on them, I guess.

I owned a copy of this game on every platform it released on. i never personally bought it. I think i played through the first level on each one. Very excited to hear someone else has played it too. I thought I’d never hear about it again

The size of the squirrels and so many other aspects of this game make so much more sense when the protagonist is framed as something the size of, I don't know, a frog? Stepping on eggs, maybe the electricity power was even a tongue lash? Watching this with that context is just so interesting to me. That is, except the monkey. Why is the monkey so smol?

Blitz Games used to make the modern Frogger games back in the GCN Era and Zapper was originally going to be a Frogger game, hence the similar gameplay.

The scenario with this game and Rollercoaster Tycoon being at his Grandma’s is almost the exact same situation as me. My cousin had games at my grandparents which included Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, and Zapper, and I played this game so often when I’d come over. Did you also grow up watching Elmo in Grouchland?

Oh man, this game I had this on Xbox and it gave me nightmares when I was a child. I remember selling it to a used game store soon after. I kinda hate that I'm feeling nostalgia for this game just from this video. Thanks for bringing these nightmares back, boys :)
