Swede here and I think it’s a conundrum that you still need to learn swedish. You shouldn’t have to, it’s nice you do, but still … unfathomable 😯

@@gellawella Swedish is Finland’s second language and that’s why teaching it is mandatory. It confuses me as well tho and especially because the teaching started very late when I was in school. Even later than optional German lessons. Optional German started in 4th grade and mandatory Swedish started in 6th.

She spoke dutch, but i understand the confusion. Dutch and Afrikaans sound alot Alike. Most Dutch/African people can understand eachothers langauge, even when it's written down.😊
