Over the past two weeks we have been shocked by the news from Turkey and Syria, where many thousands of lives were lost in an earthquake. The Holy Prophet ﷺ said-in a hadith narrated by Malik, Ahmad, Bukhari, and Muslim-that those who die in a natural disaster are considered martyrs. In this week's khutbah, Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, president of Zaytuna College, discusses these recent events and how the sunnah calls for us to respond to them.
