I spent a few days in beautiful Dorset in the South West of England with a very talented friend and full time craftsman Martin Hazell
In this video he shows his technique for carving a Spatula so that you can hopefully replicate it yourself using simple tools as it's a fun project to do whilst learning a lot along the way
To view more of Martins work and that of his brother and wife, feel free to check out his Instagram - / madeinthevale
To connect with Martin personally reg the work he does feel free to speak to him via Facebook - profile.php?...
As always I appreciate you watching
Peace
Zed

Refreshing to watch a spoon carver with a well developed sense of humour in addition to his skill. Really enjoyable video. Also, great that the project didn't reply on one owning a shave horse. Cheers Martin and Zed. 👍

This was a great video. Very interesting and Martins constant subtle jokes had me laughing an unusual amount for a video about a spatula. I particularly enjoyed the constant references to that bloke I've probably never heard of, Nick Westerman the genius. Nice work

For some reason I was thinking of Star Wars when I watched your recent video with Mike, Zed. The matching shirts kind of gave the whole thing an Obi wan/Annakin vibe. I can just see it now [cue the wavy flashback lines]... Zed - "The circle is now complete. Once I was but the learner. Now _I_ am the master." Mike - "Only a master of evil, Zed!" Both opponents draw their Mora bushcraft knives (Zed's with a red handle, of course) and engage in a kuksa carving duel...

Literally, yesterday morning I was carving a spoon in bed. Ended up having to run, and didn't have an opportunity to clean up. Thought this would be the final grounds for divorce. Fortunately, the wife came in to bed in the dark. The question now is, how many days can I get by without vacuuming?

unfortunately I'm not one of those purest carvers who use green wood. I used seasoned wood because it won't split or warp. Plus I don't need to cut down a tree and make all the environmentalists angry :)

I'm amazed at how many of these guys don't care on a table; i carve at a table, much safer, none of these big swing carving motions

Thats because they employ safe carving techniques so don't need a table unless doing axe work ~Peace~
