Do not change the speed after loading the shutter!

It bears mention that the meter is set to work with the "Sunny f:11" rule. Not the modern "Sunny 16" rule.

i was in Munchen in a nice little analog camera shop run by 2 french men, they bougth knew what was best and they got me this, and said that it was the best TLR cam out there, better glass than the rolleiflex...

You made a serious mistake to hurt your camera shutter. You must never change the shutter speed by turning the dial after you cocked the shutter. Always select your shutter speed before cocking the shutter!

This is a problem for any compur leaf shutter but not newer synchro compur shutters like on this 1C. Your point is very much true I believe for older ikoflex cameras.

I have been loaned what I believe is an Ikoflex 1A 854/16. (This is my first time to use a TLR.) I have been reading a scan of a manual. How do I open the viewfinder? Thanks.

Good video but next time add some shots taken with it at the end, this makes for a more enjoyable viewing experience.

I have leather case envy. My 1c has to be used naked in all weathers, poor old thing. In my humble opinion the 1c take as good a picture as My Rollieflex 2.8E. The viewing screen is much brighter on The Ikoflex. In essence then a better buy, and much cheaper than a Rollie. The Rollie though is quicker to use.

I read that the Rolleis were more popular simply because of the non-German name. Even though it was made in Germany alongside the Ikoflex, Rollei didn't bare the German sounding name the way Zeiss did and with WW2 still fresh in everyone's mind, they reached for the non-German sounding camera, despite being lesser of a camera in some respects. Not to say the Rollei isn't a fine camera. It certainly is but the few things the Ikoflex had over the Rollei like the brighter, more evenly lit viewfinder and the built in light meter made the Ikoflex a slightly better camera than the Rolleiflex in my opinion. Also, since the Ikolex is less popular, they are often much less expensive and in better condition when found on auction sites like ebay. I just bought the 1C in mint condition with the leather carrying case for half the price of a good condition Rolleiflex. I just couldn't say no

Gorgeous camera, thanks for the review,very informative. If I can afford a bit of criticism, for god's sake slow Your hands down and do not do every manipulation so brutal, this masterpiece deserves more carefull treatment and respect!

Hi, thanks for this review! I've got the same camera (not as new as yours) and I noticed that the shooter is cocked and the shoot button is locked. I thought that maybe I would unlocked it after loading a film, but yours works perfectly without being loaded... Do you think the camera is broken?
@eluberopaullo
@eluberopaullo 6 жыл бұрын
That doesn't sound good, I know the shutter button won't work if the camera thinks all the film has been used. Try turning the dial that resets the film counter. That's the only thing I can think of that might help

Why are people always so fucking rough with their gear when showing it of on KZfaq?! It didn't get to you in that good of a condition by being handled the way you show of here.

I'm using the camera the way it was designed and built to be used. If you want to keep yours in a glass cabinet and swoon over them than good for you but these are tools to get a job done first and foremost not something to masturbate to

Its a precious old thing, not something you consume and throw away. I bet you appreciate the great condition that it arrived at you. You wouldn't have chosen one with dings and scratches over this one. aesthetics and looks is very very important. Why else would you take pictures for example? Non disposable things are not really yours to do with whatever you want. You are only the curator or caretaker until the next person. Taken good care of, this camera could outlast you. What I object to, like the other guy here doing the same, is the careless and flittering way in which you handle the camera not so much one particular thing. You are not worse than many others here doing show and tells though. It's just that mindsets like that are what make this things liker this scarcer, drives up the prices and makes these old cameras become extinct before time.

+Helge Frisenette That's a fair point and I don't like seeing people wreck a camera for no reason but most of the reason why I was so flippantly handling the camera is due to how comfortable I was with it. I can't comment on other ikoflex but mine aged quite well and every latch and lever is still quite durable. I've run dozens of rolls through it and it still felt like new Sadly the shutter speeds are off now on the slow times, I'd guess due to some old grease gumming up the mechanism

He wasn't tossing it across the room. He was just handling it. It's not an ancient relic from Egypt. It's a camera. These old cameras are built like tanks. I'm not saying it should be handled carelessly but if can being set on a glass tabletop without damaging it. Today's equipment is far more delicate than this piece of equipment, I promise you. And besides, it's his camera. If he wants to run it over with a steam roller, he can
