Zeiss Ikon Nettar 6x6 & Fuji Acros

Күн бұрынA second video on shooting affordable medium format. In this video I use my Zeiss Ikon Nettar folding camera (model: 518/16 IH) with a fixed 75mm Novar-Anastigmat 4,5 lens. (actually a Rodenstock) I use a Fuji Acros 100, which is a fantastic film with great sharpness and almost no grain. I show 11 out of 12 images, of which one was taken handheld. No compensation for reciprocity failure is required with long shutter speeds and I also try to shoot at the largest aperture of 4,5 to get a feel for the shallow depth of field.

Well, you have just demonstrated that a 70 year old camera coupled to a 3 element lens is far more capable than people would give it credit for. Very well done.

Well... the Acros lived up to my expectations, and I am so glad it is back again! Nice little gem that zeiss camera!

In the same spirit, I recently shot with an Adox 63, 6x6 folding camera that I bought for 10 euros, I had nice results with a limited budget 👍

The distance engraved on the lens is not the lens to subject distance. It's the FOCAL PLANE to subject distance!

It would be interesting to see if a diy laser or LIDAR system could complement the distance measurement. Ve been looking into building a portable 6x6 system of a similar nature to these cameras, possibly using 35mm lenses which would project an image circle of acceptable sharpness for 6x6. This could in theory allow the use of a smaller 35mm sized camera. 🤔

When you shot the cars at f4.5 did you get an exact measurement (with a tape measure or range finder) of the area of the car you wanted to be in acceptable focus? Or did you guess? I’m curious as to how exact the focus marks on the lens are? Not to mention distance to subject and angle of view. I enjoyed the video thanks for your time and energy.

Thank's... I actually walked the distance from lens to subject and counted my steps, no measuring tape. When I focus for 4m and 25 cm I first position the focus exactly in the middle between 4 and 5. Then I cut it in half again, so to say... It's like cutting a pie in equal pieces. Angle of view was low in this video. Thank''s again.

Of course I could only measure out the distance when physically possible!

@@ThePhotographyMinimalist In addition to the 6x6 bellows camera, I also have a Pentax super program with a 50/1.7 lens which I sometimes use to measure distances.
