The meeting on the sidelines of the inauguration of Javier Milei, Argentina’s newly-elected president, came just days before a European Union summit set to decide on membership talks for Kyiv and additional military aid.
Footage showed the Ukrainian and Hungarian leaders having an animated conversation in the Argentine parliament in Buenos Aires.

Guys, they're not going to fight against each others. The thing about Orban being cornered and Zelensky in an offensive position only means that the Ukrainian President was able to find Orban in a place where he can't leave without talking to him. Don't read too much into it. Orban is not scared of Zelensky and Zelensky is not scared of Orban.

He needs money to stop the war. To push out the Russians out of Ukraine. It's as simple as that. So travelling from country to country, requesting funds is totally understandable. Even if the public is tired of it. What else is he supposed to do? If he made peace with the Russians now, Ukraine would lose a lot of territory and in 2 years or so the Russians would just attack Ukraine and try to take it again. If Zelenskyj made peace with them now, the Russians would just use the time to regroup and gather more military resources, attacking stronger than ever. And note that Zelenskyj didn't start the war in the first place.

Hungary has excellent relationship with Serbia for example. Reason: they allow minorities to use own language, to pray in own language, to study in own language. Don't set extra taxes, charges 7-10x for transit, simple things. Kiyv response to Russian minorities was sending armies since 2014. Cleanse the land from civilians living there, with ancestors well over hundred years. Zelensky won election stating he will bring peace, did the opposite. 46%didn't choosed him. Hungarians in Ukraine are banned to pray, learn, speak Hungarian in their small villages, towns. By law. Ukraine was waging war against Ukrainians who choosed different ways since 2014. It took Russia 8 years while trying every possible peace method on every forum to step in. Turkey aren't allowed in the EU, conditions in Ukraine are worse in every sense. Playing the victim card won't work.

It's mostly diplomatic but also material. Argentina has sent medical supplies to Ukraine and also donated two military transport helicopters, one of which was supposedly shot down by Russian forces later during combat.

It depends what interests Orban has: Become a vassal state to neo-imperial Russia (again). Or preferring to have Ukraine as a buffer zone between itself and Russia. If Orban is glad to share a border with an aggressive Russia, then obviously Zelensky doesn’t owe him anything. But Orban’s regime is preventing EU support. And a common EU attitude that says “EU supports Ukraine in this war.” By doing so he supports Russia. It wouldn’t cost him anything to show unity in the support of Ukraine. Anything but Putin being irritated with him. And I suppose Orban is too fragile for standing up against a tyrant. He only barks at democratic EU leaders. Orban should bundle up with pro-Russian nations like Serbia and Slovakia and sign up for a Brics membership instead of the EU. Since Argentina won’t be signing up now he may take its place. (Although I’m not too happy about a motor saw swinging anarchist-capitalist… whatever bs that is.)

Well a few days later back in Europe Orban didn’t veto the EU’s move to open membership negotiations with Ukraine as he had threatened to do so I guess Zelensky’s gambit paid off handsomely.

@@andreweksh It would be a huge problem to let Ukraine into the EU. The EU is struggling as it is, and now it would be stuck rebuilding Ukraine because the Americans are pulling away already. Furthermore, Ukraine's agricultural production would ruin the current (especially Eastern European countries) market. Ukraine would be one of the biggest, yet poorest, most underdeveloped, corrupt, and war stricken countries to contend with...I could go on.
