The best camping mattress I've ever used... honestly, I haven't used many. But when I moved, I used this as my bed for several months until I was able to buy a real mattress, hasn't failed me so far.

I like it, that seems like the answer I've been looking for. I would have liked to see someone actually laying on it though. It would give a better impression of size. Although it does look wide enough. When you roll something up that has air in it, it works better on the ground. Roll a bit, put you knees on it to help squeeze the air out, and over & over. So the weight of your body helps to it as small as possible while you roll it.

I agree, The Easel Rider, rolling it on the ground and using your body weight makes thigs easier. We made things hard for ourselves by doing it on the table in this video. ~ Ben

Are they thick enough to allow for side sleepers to be comfortable on them? If not will stacking two singles on top of each other be ok or will that result in something too soft? Thanks.
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
This is hard to answer as we all sleep a bit differently. I find these thick enough and I'm a side sleeper but everyone is different and you can adjust the firmness of these mats accordingly. I reckon two of them together would be a bit soft and the mats wold move around a bit. It might be worth getting into a store and giving it a go for yourself if you can, that way you know if it suits you. ~ Ben

it would have been great to see you on the mat to see how and if it compresses.
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
The compression is totally dependent on how much air you put in the mat, Maine. Laying on it with the valves open would result in a fair bit of your body touching the ground, but when blown up tightly they will provide comfort for anyone who prefers a hard mattress. If your comfort level is in between then you can just adjust the air pressure inside. ~ Ben

Any issues if I use a 12v pump to "suck" the air out after each use? Just makes the packup so much quicker and effortless. I understand it will take a little longer each time for the foam to reflate, but it makes it so much quicker and easier getting it into the bag.
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
I can't see any issues here, Emre, as long as your pump has the power to suck the air out then you should be fine. ~ Ben

Is it best to store the mat rolled up or inflated when at home?
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
Ideally they should be stored inflated with the valves open, but this isn't convenient for those with small abode's. You can store them rolled tight, the downside to this is the extended time it will take the foam to expand when you want to inflate it. Personally, I store my mat inside my swag rolled loosely, it's semi compressed this way whilst still allowing some airflow. ~ Ben

When storing this mattress at home when not camping, is it best to store inflated ?
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
That is preferable, Isaac, but not always practical. Storing it inflated ensure the mat will inflate quickly when you get to camp without the need for any assistance i.e. via your mouth. However, they are bulky and many people don't have the space, so you can store them compressed, just be aware that this will slow down the inflation process and if stored for extended periods may have an impact on the insulating performance of the foam. If you store it compressed and use it a few times a year then I recommend unrolling it a few days before your trip to give the foam time to expand. A warm place is good for this but not in direct sunlight. I hope this is helpful. ~ Ben

Comparison against the Exped?
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
In terms of comfort and function, they are pretty comparable, kaynefin. The only comment we can really make here is that we have a long history with the Exped Megamats and know that with proper care they last a lifetime. The Zempire Monstamat look as feels to be of similar quality, but we don't have the same history with them. So far, we have had positive feedback though, and they come at a much more affordable price. ~ Ben

How sturdy is that swiveling valve? It seems like a weak link, but I haven't actually touched or seen it in real life.
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
You can actually pull the little disc out, Ashley. Its made of plastic with a rubber seal around the outside and a rubber insert (the orange bit) to give it the 'one-way' feature, it doesn't have any flimsy plastic hinges or attachments. The rubber around the edge sits in a channel in the valve opening which is what keeps it in place. It's sturdy, although it's the cap that goes over the top that is what holds the air inside overnight and the disc is more of an inflation/deflation aid. ~ Ben

@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Heath, at 10 cm these are pretty comfortable for a camp mat, there is only one that I am aware of that is thicker but it costs a bucket load. The fabrics are balanced to make sure they are durable and can be packed way easily and we've not had negative feedback on the durability under normal use. As for the length, these come in a king single size (www.snowys.com.au/monstamat-king-single-camp-mat) which are 199 cm long, which should cater pretty well for people up to about 6'4". ~ Ben
