Mayu is incredibly versatile. I recommend you try Raitei for a heavy song from them without harsh vocals or try their masterpiece Adabana.

Nemo is one of my favorites bands right now, they bringing back the old tones and add the personal and unique style with this fantastic musicians, listen to them make me happy instantly, other songs you can react are Rise, Oiran, Revive and more slow songs like the recent Odyssey and Now I Here...regards from Chile¡¡

A few more Nemophila songs you may like are "Night Flight" and "Odyssey". No screaming in those. "Hypnosis" is another great one where she mostly sings clean, but screams when it makes sense in the context of the song.

Yes, Mayu and the ladies from Nemophila are really special. Very few people go into as much detail as you do and get involved, even though it's not your taste at all - hats off and respect for that! 🙏🏻 That's why I've really enjoyed both Nemo videos so far. 👍🏻And next maybe a song with the best vocal mix of both worlds in my opinion!? -> "Rise" (MV), or their latest MV for 'Odyssey', in which Mayu shows again a completely different side of her vocals. :) _____________________ _"America invented rock. I recommend the music video to their song 'Rise'. The live version is also great but the MV showcases the contrast between Mayu's clean and scream vocals very clearly. It is also another example of the positive message so common in their songs.

I would also suggest Rise…but, Tim wants to “keep it clean” and Mayu drops the S-bomb on that song. But still, great lyrics!

There are hundreds of bands in Japan have taken our music of all different genres and put them in a blender made some astonishing music. Try the band East of Eden . They take a violin and mix it with rock to make something very unique.

I'm simply impressed that you listened to it all the way through, TWICE.. I know it's not your thing but thanks for being open minded about it.. They do have 2-3 other songs along the lines of Life and, as others have suggested, have done tons of rock/metal covers that are pretty great also. Suggesting the latter can be hit or miss as you have suggested that you prefer to hear the original before hearing a cover. Not knowing what you have listened to complicates things! Maybe a deal with covers that would simply be doing a react to the original and then the cover if you have never heard the original before :)

Agree, this is on the opposite end to Life in Nemophilas catalogue - but that's like in north vs south, where there's also east and west … and up and down, at least. Other great tracks on one or another end of Nemophila-Land: Hypnosis, Style, their cover of Journey's Separate Ways, 聖飢魔Ⅱ / 呪いのｼｬ・ﾅ・ﾅ・ﾅ, Limp Bizkit / Stuck or System Of A Down / Sugar. (Also Night Flight, that I try to ignore for personal taste). Further Inland: Seize the Fate, Adabana, Monsters or Iron Maiden, Helloween and Babymetal covers. Right around their capital: Oiran, Revive, Dissension, Rise. There's more …

Nemophila Is a very versatile band..Mayu can melt your face Banshee vocals, or melt your heart with a ballad. And everything in between !.. Great originals and covers.. Tamu. Hazuki, Saki and Haraguchi-san are amazing musicians/artists..

How dare you have a differing opinion than someone else! Haha! Just kidding dude. I think the vocalizations you are referring to are 2 different styles of harsh vocals There are growls and fry scream vocals. I'm sure someone will let me know if I'm wrong! Mayu here is using fry scream vocals. Tatiana from Jinjer uses a lot of growls. Having said that and knowing this is not your style of vocals, I'm going to suggest that you check out Nemophila's newest video for the song Odyssey. Totally different direction. Great reaction brother!

Mayu sings quite a lot in English but she doesn’t speak it even though she’s learning. Respect to her because she’s parroting the words without having a full understanding of the words. Very hard to do. She’s an amazing vocalist for sure. With the guitar you will get Hazuki left of stage in your left speaker and Saki in your right hand side. Hazuki played the whole lead in this. Normally they share it though. Great reaction by the way.

I'd echo @goatqi, "I know it's not your thing but thanks for being open minded about it". I believe the term for this type of vocalization is called "vocal fry". It would be difficult (if not impossible) to contain melody. A vehicle for rage or frustration? After looking up the lyrics, I don't get the ZEN title. Favorite candy? "Candy-O" by The Cars...

I’d love it if you reacted to their recent live video for their song Rise. It has some screaming but plenty of singing too. Also, if you want something similar to Life, their most recent single Odyssey is a ballad

Apart from any _masterly musicianship_ (as this song is a _masterpiece_ for sure), this song is _one additional thing in first line_ : *a big sign of their humor* . 😁 The thoughtful practice of "zen" actually needs peace and quiet, and _time_ . And here they just _shred_ it, in a few minutes' time. 😂 (Some of them _grinning_ while shredding.) *Hilarious!* I am no explicit fan of growling, I do not practice "zen", but this is one of my favorite songs from them, especially _live_ . 😁 The humorous concept of this song strongly reminds me of their funny cover of "The Minion Song" (The Minions, feat. "Barbara N." from The Beach Boys). It is a *must* for all who like to laugh and grin. 😁💮🐺

I love this song but Change the world is probably something that you would enjoy more it's a toe tapper . New song Odyssy is a balad and very impressive and reminds me of November Rain a bit. Love the Christian ✝️ content.

The bassist Haraguchi san wrote this as a kind of metal meditation. Almost every line is a question, and almost all in english. Knowing that, I can actually fall into a peaceful sleep listening to this song. All their songs have pretty positive messages, many about motivation. I call their song Rise my daily affirmation metal. I also think Haraguchi san likes skittles.

This song was written by bassist Haraguchi-san, and I love everything about her. I have loved everything else she has written for the band. So I was really hoping to love this one, too. But I don't. It isn't my least favorite Nemophila song, but it is definitely in the bottom half. I've never been a fan of that uber-low djenty nu metal sound. Not my thing. And "brutal" isn't necessarily a selling point when there's nothing else to make it more interesting. That said, I don't dislike the song as much as I did on the first listen.

I still can’t get behind this type of vocalization. It almost sounds like she’s rapping which is fine but for me it really takes away from the performance by the rest of the band. 🤷‍♂️
