Zener Voltage Regulator Experiment on Breadboard Practical. how zener diode works
A Zener diode is a diode which allows the current to flow in the forward direction like ordinary PN junction diode, as well as in the reverse direction if the voltage is greater than the breakdown voltage then it is known as Zener knee voltage or Zener voltage. Zener diodes have a highly doped p-n junction. Normal diodes will also break down
with a reverse voltage but the voltage and sharpness of the knee are not as well defined as for a
Zener diode. Also normal diodes are not designed to operate in the breakdown region, but
Zener diodes can reliably operate in this region.
in forward bias, zener diode works as ordinary PN junction diode, but in reverse bias, it works as voltage regulator.
