This game completely caught me off guard. I swore I would just give it a try and not commit to it and yet it has completely taken over. I am playing this at the same time as ffxiv and honestly the combo is so satisfying. I am thrilled.

Yeah, I view Hoyoverse with cynicism because of my history with them, but I ALWAYS point out that they make masterpieces. I started playing expecting the gameplay to be typical Hoyo fair, and it is (no matter what people say you are capable of most of it is impossible to do without clearing the stage already XD), but what I didn't expect was that this would feel like my favorite visual novels that I play. The music the small world and characters with everyday activities spiced in with a larger narrative. I'm really enjoying my time with the game, and since I'm enjoying it in the way that Hoyoverse is likely to target with development (casually, artistically), then I'm likely to enjoy it for the long run.

I forgot to mention how often the most memorable part of visual novels is the soundtrack. The music stays with me and makes the complete difference between a reading and experiencing.

This game is such a pure 2000s nostalgia bait and I don't even mind because I am target audience for it. VHS tapes, flip phones, arcades, Maid squad based on horror movies, vinyl records, this Jet Set Radio aesthetic, References to anime from that era like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan. Inspirations from Persona games, Devil May cry, devs also mentioned street fighter. This game is almost aggresively targeting Milenials and people who grew up in 90s and 2000s. I'm all for it

I like ZZZ and it's plot a lot more than expected. It feels like a lot of gacha games drop you into either a very unfamiliar world or in the middle of some very high stakes conflict almost immediately after you start playing. I like how ZZZ has pretty small scale conflicts early on, with a main one being "we need to make money to pay our bills." Which is depressingly relatable, 10/10

I've been confused by the ZZZ negativity when everything is so reminiscent of Persona's style. The music, slice of life elements, overall UI flashiness and retro themes. Also every character design and kit looks and feels unique and fun to play. The main problem I have with ZZZ is that it's difficult to invest in more than your team of 3 characters. I wanna play all of them!

A little later in the game you gain the ability to make custom farming battles, so you can plonk one of each material into that and then farm everything at once (obviously less than doing them individually, but it's still a time saver if you need more than one type of material at once)

Don't buy into comments that exude pure negativity and comparison bait and you'll be fine. It's a gacha, so you'll eventually build all the characters you have and will have down the line provided you're frugal and targeted in investing materials into them. I'm personally not a fan of the storytelling method since they're mixing TVs into the foray as opposed to having diegetic in-world wacky animations they touted on as a feature, but otherwise everything else is pretty alright. It's HI3 Part 2 but Y2K.

It's because ton of content creator just compare the game to whatever other game without even knowing what they are talking about, leading to other fandom essentially hate ZZZ (basically bait them), meanwhile some people that try to defend it just glorified the game too much and just make the game look even worst Nothing is perfect, ZZZ has it flaw, but all the hate the game get really just over the top. The music are good, the world is colorful, some character design might be a miss but some actually look good (again, not everything is perfect), as for character kit, this is very subjective, if you are someone that already play HI3rd, PGR, or any other action game, ZZZ combat and their individual character kit might not be new to you, but if you never play any of those game and only ever play Genshin or HSR, then yeah I could understand why you get mind blown by ZZZ gameplay. The story is chill so far, but with a hint of danger too (I expect one of the sibling die later on), and the cutscenes is literal anime. Personally as someone that used to play HI3rd, ZZZ is quite a fresh air but at the same time also concerning. I just hope zzz don't make the same mistake HI3rd made in the past, if they were able to pull it off, ZZZ can surpass HI3rd in multiple aspect, but this is just me being so hopeful for the future of the game, nothing can guaranteed it If you curious what list of issue HI3rd made (at least in my opinion): • Releasing too much game mode over the year, leading to ridiculous amount of currency and shop need to be farm ---- This happen because at one point instead of trying to improvise the old content, they choose to just make a brand new ono to make player occupied, it's stacked up alot over the 8 years of the game lifespan, which as a result make the game not very new player friendly due to how overwhelming the list of currencies the game had • Difficulties is just higher number stats ----- To put it simply the highest difficulties fight is just the same enemy but with more HP and higher damage, this led to the game becoming a dps check for majority of its content, no creativity whatsoever, even if the boss 1 hit you, that doesn't make the game more exciting There are other issue, but those 2 is the major one for me, I hope zzz will surpass HI3rd in those regardt

That said, if you play it one semester at a time and take a break in between, then it becomes like five or six much more manageable twenty hour chunks. And yes, you do need to play P5 before Strikers, as Strikers will almost certainly spoil the events of P5, and that is a game you do not want getting spoiled. It isn't even a 2 button only game. You got your skill, which is acts different depending on if you have energy or not. Basic attack, which links as a dodge attack, counter attack, or follow-up attack. Dodge, for both short distancw clearers, or to dodge attacks from enemies, which then links into either a dodge counter, or as a setup for either other moves, or to switch to other characters. Switch, which allows you to choose switch between 3 different, active, characters, and when done during special attacks, acts as a counter, which in turn acts differently depending on which character switches in. And the ult, which might be singular in nature, but is shared among all 3 characters, forcing you to choose which one to use when, alongside making sure the correct character is on the field when needed.

I'm glad that ZZZ doesn't have a massive open world or massive open zones cuz I already have enough open world games to play. It just has small areas. I saw some people complaining about that, and I was like "why would you want yet another open world game to play?" (especially another live service one) cuz I feel like there are just too many of them nowadays. It might just be a me thing. I'm starting to get a little burnt out of them, and I just want to finish with the ones I'm already playing. I'm liking the beginning of Hi3rd type of gameplay where you have missions that take you into an enclosed combat zone rather than having a big open world to explore and get chests and run around doing quests. I've explored enough maps in games; it's time for something different.

However, i kept playing, and found the small, tiny charms here and there that the older me enjoy. It was not about the goal of beating the game like the teenage me first time playing Persona 3, it's about enjoying the environments, the Sixth streets, the neighbour, the police couple nonsense. As an old time gacha player, i rarely turn the in game music on, everything became too repeatable after once or two time, but 3Z became the first game that made me listen to in game music for almost one week straight, the game feel weird without its music.

I’ve been enjoying figuring out combos for anby and Ellen - the fact that they offer such robust tutorials for their characters like pgr does is really neat. But none of it is obvious unless you spend time with it. The best part is you don’t NEED to.

Yes, this for sure! I love it when a game keep it accessible instead of overtuning for pro/endgame! But check out some of the crazy things like that you can add a 360 to Nicole's EX and not only can you charge it a second level, but it changes the direction you can combo and knockdown with

The best part is you don't even need to be a meta/mechanics expert to stumble across some of those unique features. I'm a total amateur when it comes to this stuff and I'm barely above the level of a button-masher, but I still noticed how Koleda's attack animations change when Ben's in the party with her, and went looking online to find out that the actual mechanics of her moveset change too.

I honestly wasn't expecting too much from ZZZ and was considering not even trying it, but I'm actually really enjoying it and in a lot of ways its Hoyo's best game. Aesthetically it definitely feels like their most distinctive and cohesive so far and also feels, so far, like it will be the easiest one to play casually.

im glad you're hopping onto this man. this game is just absolutely oozing with style and personality and how the music is so sincere to the styles its inspired by, you can really tell that the musicians who worked on this were really edm fans and hiphop and funk fans, it just shines through so well. they represent that style visually very well of course but man hoyo really cooked with this soundtrack. it sounds so fresh and new and yet this whole look, sound and feel is my entire childhood. like even the gacha pull music goes harder than literally any gacha game has ever gone where you cant even be mad at losing the 50/50 for. i know its just gonna get better and better with more content coming out. if i am to give you my personal recommendations marco, i would personally recommend taking time to go to the bangboo upgrade station and just listen to the bgm and my god, its the most hotline miami, gta san andreas, ice cube vibe ive ever heard in the modern age. lastly, ellen's debut trailer has a song called BITE. I highly recommend listening to that song and just admire the instrumental, the guitar work on that is so crazy.

The criticism that this game is a yapfest or nothing happens is insane to me when the pacing and narrative has been the tightest in any Hoyo game so far. I honestly think the only reason it gets this criticism is simply due that there isn't a bombastic boss fight setpiece in the first act.

As someone who grew up in the early 00’s. Seeing the VHS tapes with the paper sleeves, the siblings Blockbuster-esque video rental store and the CRT TV’s, some with in built VCR’s, made me feel so nostalgic to growing up. I had this massive hunk of glass and plastic shoved onto a dresser with an RCA player on top of it and a giant plastic container of action movies and 90’s Disney movies under my bed.

unrelated to the video and I usually never write anything on any platform on the internet, but oh dude you are awesome. Just wanted to tell you how enjoyable your content is and you are doing an amazing job. Especially ur reactions to music are what many people like me truly enjoy because you can so objectively express in words what many of us can only feel but can't quite understand where that feeling comes from. It's also always nice to hear another perspective from someone with experience in that field and I have changed my way of thinking about especially classical music and modern synthesized stuff. Your videos quite literally broadened my horizons and made me more aware of the subtle details in classical music that can create so many different emotions without the need of any context at all. Rarely ever seen such a warm, mature, interesting and truly good personality in the content creator scene. Don't let the toxic minority ever change ur perspective on urself. There are hundreds if not thousands of people like me (the silent ones) that truly appreciate the videos you produce and you as a person, even if opinions may differ sometimes because you always give such a great perspective and respect to everything. Some people just are not mature enough yet and resort to hatefull "outbreaks" of their emotions. Maybe in a few years they'll look back at ur content and think "hm maybe he had a point and I was just emotional and childish"

Couldnt agree more Marco. Game has an amazing sense of style and it simply oozes passion. Theres something about it that just feels very different from any other Hoyoverse game, not to say that HI3rd, Genshin or HSR are bad by any means, I've play them all for quite a significant amount of time, but this... This feels special. Its easily the most polished game they have published yet, and the soundtrack is absolutely stellar. And ZZZ feels like a game that is just pure fun. it's a bit silly, it's pretty, the fights are simple, smooth, fast and satisfying, there are a lot of details... it's basically "just hop on the dopamine train, we ride at dawn!!". all of it screams fun and I'm here for it ^^ it's just... vibes ^^ in the best way ^^ I absolutely LOVE open-world games, but I'm also super happy that ZZZ is not open-world. ^^ and sure, the game isn't perfect and there is some valid criticism out there. but to me, some people sound a bit like "This turtle can't fly! what a shit pet!" ^^

Finally, I see someone that matches my feelings for the game. I really don't mind the other CC's being careful with their words, even though they admit to enjoying the game. I get it. It's just nice to see someone having a similar vibe to what I feel about the game. I played Wuwa, and I fully admit that in terms of the technicality of the boss battles, it's superior to even ZZZ. As someone who enjoyed all the FromSoftware games, I really thought I would like the challenge better. Here, when I perform a perfect swap, nail my parries, and finish a level then it freezes with different camera angles with a big "WIPEOUT" in the background, I just scream alone in my room, hyped AF. I love how they make a show out of it. I guess I'm just a sucker for the style and vibe of the game.

I was worried I will be sacrificing quality voice acting to be able to keep up with the action but the VAs nailed it. Animation is fantastic and characters thanks to not being tied to weapons like in Genshin can be handcrafted from the ground up allowing for far more visual diversity. And so far I really liked how characters were written. I'm yet to find any of the playable characters that I dislike. I was tempted by the insanely good cutscenes with Nekomata(who I still am trying to get :

It's not just the music but how it's implemented, there's so much more commitment to minor EQ tweaks on damage moments, always having it active while playing, shifting near-seamlessly between tv and combat sections of the same tracks, they've really brought it to centre stage in a way they obviously never did with Genshin/HSR (and nor should they for those styles)
