Today we take a good look at one of my favorite lasers. The B&W Tek BWB-10-OEM ( Manufactured by CNI ) This is a DPSS laser used in spectroscopy and was originally part of a spectrometer often found in medical labs. This laser starts off with a 808nm 2.4 watt capable pump diode and cleans up the output before condensing the 808nm laser light into a crystal that is probably ND:YVO4 which converts 808nm into 946nm. The 946nm light is then passed through the non-linear crystal probably Lib3O5 and gets passed through again after bouncing off a lens with an AR coating made to act as a parabolic reflecting dish in the front of the resonator thus introducing the second wave of 946nm light. This causes second harmonic generation to occur and produces 473nm laser light in the non-linear crystal which is emitted from the front of the Laser head. Below are links to read.
