A Zepbound weight loss journey means knowing when it's time to titrate up or down. How did my vacation go while staying on 5mg? Did I gain, lose or maintain? Answering these questions in today's video!
Also, if you're not already following ‪@simply_taisha‬, do yourself a favor and go check out her channel. She's sharing her Zepbound weight loss too and as I mentioned in the video, she just has such a balanced, realistic approach that you can't help but feel that anything is possible!

Also, these big pharma companies refuse to release vials in the USA like they do in Canada and Australia. So....they need to get it together and put out 4mg, 6mg, 8.5 etc. But instead they are just doing trials of 20 and 25 .... no 17.5, 22's etc. edit: Dare I say this is one advantage to the compounded is having the control with my doc's guidance to titrate up to 4mg without immediately doubling to 5 and if I need to go beyond 5mg I can go like 6mg instead of jumping right to 7.5.

Yes I love that you have more flexibility with compound as far as dose goes. And I knew they were working on stronger doses which is great and all, but I agree, they could also work to make in-between doses available. 🙄#goldilocksistersunite 😂 As for the vials, I agree with that too. They make it super cheap in these other countries, but we’re the cash cow and they make a killing with us. I understand that they’re a business and that’s the nature of it, but then get your act together and quit with the shortages and limited doses. Okay sorry, rant over. 🙈😂

Hi Jill, listening to your experience moving up to 7.5mg makes me realize that I need to try some other things before moving up in dosage for myself . I’ve been feeling 5mg hasn’t been working as well for me as it did 7 weeks ago when I started 5mg, but I also have been very, very lax in getting my protein in so that could also contribute to why I don’t feel it isn’t working as well and I wanted to try giving my shot in a different location as I have been sticking to just my abdomen, although location shouldn’t really impact how well the med works. What is your ideal weekly weight loss amount to avoid muscle loss? Except for the very first couple weeks on Zepbound I’ve been anywhere from 1 to 2.3 pounds a week which I feel isn’t too much too fast.
@2.0mommy
@2.0mommy Ай бұрын
Hey! So for me personally, I wouldn’t want to lose more than 2 pounds in a week, which you’re doing! 👊🏽 As for the protein, yes I’d definitely encourage you to make sure you’re getting in enough protein. I never really understood how important protein was in a weight loss journey till Zepbound. It’ll help keep you fuller for longer and if you’re trying to build muscle, you’ll need that protein to build and repair muscle. If you really want to get a filling meal, combine protein with fiber (like black beans or avocado) and a little bit of healthy fat like olive oil (avocado is a great healthy fat!). Those 3 things (protein, fiber, fat) combined will keep you full a lot longer. It might just be what you need to be able to stay on 5mg. If you don’t notice a change, then maybe it IS time to go up. ☺️ As for the injection site, I really don’t think it matters a whole lot either as long as you’re injecting into fatty tissue. I think as long as you’re not injecting into the same exact spot, it should be okay. You definitely can build up scar tissue from injecting into the same spot repeatedly, which would definitely cause absorption issues. My type 1 daughter has been diabetic for 10 years and her arms, legs, stomach are pretty bad with scar tissue but she has to inject a much bigger needle 12-15 times a week so it’s to be expected. The needles in glp1 medications are way, way, way smaller so I don’t think it’s as big of an issue. I injected into my thighs for 3 months straight and just tried to pick a slightly different spot each spot. I now do my stomach because I discovered it hurts a lot less (for me)! But a lot of people swear it makes a difference. So definitely try experimenting, you don’t have anything to lose. 🤗🙏🏽💕💕 If you do, let me know how it goes!

Yea so maybe you need to stick to five for pretty much the whole journey? You might be one of the people who never have to go up to the higher doses. Maybe you could get some 5mg and do every other week 7.5, 5, 7.5 and so on to use up your supply. That’s one reason why I think compound is so convenient people can go up a smaller amount at a time. I just watched a interview with dr tyna and she was talking about how these doses are actually really high and many people won’t need and shouldn’t go to higher doses and that it could cause insulin problems later down the rd. Keep up the good work!

As long as you're getting adequate protein and resistance training seriously (i.e. not flailing around with light weight for a lot of reps) muscle loss isn't going to be a huge factor, and around 1,200 calories a day for a woman of your size. The RDA for protein is 0.8g/kg/day, and for resistance training individuals it's 1.8/kg at the upper end. So two sessions a week of resistance training will be plenty adequate. I highly, highly, recommend Starting Strength (the program) or going to a Starting Strength gym (they have really good trainers and know-how, much better than any regular PT in your average commercial gym). Anyhow, even if you lose more muscle than you would have wanted to, when you get to your goal weight a good novice program like Starting Strength will help you quickly recomposition and gain back that lost muscle mass and then some. All the best! And I wanted to add I just got started on 2.5 mg (first month), and I noticed my hunger no longer bottoms out at much as it used to, but I am not getting the more coveted hunger suppression that others report, so hopefully that will clear up as I climb up in dose.

Hi! Sorry I missed your comment! Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I’ll definitely check them out! As for protein, I aim to get about 120-30g a day because I know that not every day I achieve that, so it balances out in the end. 🙈😂 Sorry you’re not having great appetite suppression, but as you said, that will definitely improve if you choose to go up in dose. How much longer do you plan on staying on 2.5? Thanks again for stopping by and sharing your advice!

Hey Marcie! Thanks for being excited for me! I remember you saying that I’d get to 1k before my birthday and I was skeptical! 😂 I’m sorry you’ve been having a hard time and not seeing the scale move. It’s especially hard when you’re doing all the right things. 🫠 Do you think you have to reevaluate your calorie needs? Maybe you’re not eating enough and your body is trying to hold on it. Of course it could also be the opposite. I actually have to reevaluate my own needs because I’ve lost a lot of weight since I last came to my 1,500-1,600 range. It’s likely I need less now. Can you increase your steps a little and see if that makes a difference? Sometimes people have success breaking a stall by eating at maintenance calories for a couple of days. It tricks the body into feeling safe to release the weight. So many factors to consider, right! 😵‍💫😂 Keep doing what you’re doing and trust the process. The scale will eventually move! You got this, just stay positive. Please let me know how 7.5 works out for you. I hope you have better luck with it. Don’t forget to let me know!! 💕🙏🏽💕💕

Just curious why you titrated up when you are still losing on 5.0. I just watched a great nutritionist and glp1 Dr talk about the shots and I found it fascinating and educational. search YT for "mastering glp-1 medications for weight loss" with Nathalie Naddam. There is excellent guidance on nutrition & essential supplements when you are in calorie deficit and they also discuss what plateaus actually are, and that titrating up too quickly can wreck your system. Congratulations on 1000 subs! I am on week 3 day 5 of compounded tirzepatide 2.5 and plan on staying on 2.5 until I have not lost weight for at least 6-8 weeks. They also said -1 pound a week is the way to go. ❤

@2.0mommy Ай бұрын
Hi! Sorry, somehow I missed this! The reason why I wanted to go up is because I’ve been on 5mg for 4 1/2 months and while I was losing weight, it was due to me constantly fighting food noise. The appetite suppression was also pretty much gone. I first started to notice it in May, but pushed back because I’m trying to stay on the lowest, effective dose and avoid becoming resistant to it. Finally, I decided that I just didn’t want to struggle that much since the best part of this medication (for me) has always been the freedom from obsessing about food. (I was also out of 5mg) I suppose 5mg is still somewhat effective because otherwise I don’t think I’d be able to resist the binge eating, but it’s definitely not as effective as it was in March. Making healthier food choices was a lot easier when it was working better. Nonetheless, I don’t like how 7.5mg makes me feel so I’ll be going back down to 5mg and revisit the idea at some other time. Hope that makes sense. ☺️ As for the actual weight loss, I feel comfortable losing up to 2 pounds because I’m keeping up with my protein and my calorie deficit is not very significant since I offset it with exercise. So I’m fairly confident that the majority of my weight loss, has been fat loss. I haven’t heard of the person you mentioned but I’ll check her out. I listen to Dr. Tyna and she really informed my opinion about staying on the lowest possible dose and strength training. KZfaq is great for getting all this information that we normally wouldn’t have access to. I think it’s great that you’re also staying on the lowest dose for as long as possible. I think that’s really the best approach, even if it’s slower. Thanks so much for watching and being here! I appreciate you!🙏🏽💕💕💕

Just a thought: you are comparing a nighttime weigh-in to a morning weigh-in. Typically, we weigh more at night than we do in the morning, so it's possible that loss is just representative of that phenomenon. Weighing at the same time of day will consistently show a more accurate record.

Jill! I missed you (even though I was on vacation myself 😂). Congrats on 1k 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 and losing weight last week🎉 I start 7.5 on Sunday and am nervous because this week has been a struggle to eat on my last 5.0 shot. I am starting to believe site matters...I hadn't really noticed any difference regardless of location but appetite suppression is definitely stronger in the belly for me... doesn't much impact my weight loss but it definitely kicks in sooner (less than 24 hours) and lasts longer. I will be doing 7.5 in my arm, I will keep you (and the YT world 😂) posted!

I missed you too!! I’m wondering when your big debut is happening? 🙏🏽💕💕 And the whole site change debate is very individual for sure. I didn’t really believe it either but at the same time so many people say they notice a difference. I never noticed a difference but that’s just me. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Maybe that can be your first video! Yayyyyy you had ALL THE FUN and STILL lost a pound on the 5mg. Do you think you will put more space in-between the 7.5mg? edit: Like...try waiting 9-10 days between the 7.5mg shots vs doing weekly shots. And sounds like you should maybe look around for 5mg again for the future. I've seen a CC I follow was on I think 10mg of the branded but ended up going back down to 7.5 as 10mg was too strong. So....titrating back down does happen sometimes. And imo 1lb a week of weightloss is still GREAT if you can get back down to 5mg (or just stretch the 7.5 shot days). Hopefully shot 2 of 7.5mg is not too bad though.....struggling to take a protein shake does not sound fun

Hey Jill! Congratulations on reaching 1K subs!!! I feel like the vast majority of the folks here that are walking with this journey with you, understand you enough to know you aren’t being unreasonable, you simply know what is better for YOU. Also, IMO we should be using this medicine as a tool to make lifestyle changes, and not eating is not sustainable. I think your wise to find the appropriate balance for you. You answer to no one but yourself! You got this!

Thank you!!☺️ 💕💕💕 I think you’re right, that the ladies who view my videos and comment would understand where I’m coming from but most of the people watching aren’t even subscribed or leave comments so I guess I was just worried about offending people .🙈😅 But yes, not eating isn’t sustainable though I must admit it’s been nice not thinking about food at all!! 😂 But currently it’s 9:20 and all I’ve eaten today was a protein shake and an apple. Oh, I did have a few bites of chicken breast for dinner. But that’s it! So definitely not sustainable. Btw, I love that you encouraged me to get he scale! I absolutely love it!!

Hey there! Ah…you have folks that watch that aren’t subscribed. What’s wrong with them? 😂 I have to say since I went up to 5mg, 3 weeks ago I’ve had great balance of food noise reduction, can still eat but stopping after smaller portions. If I can sustain this posture, I’ll likely stay at 5. I’m losing 1-2/week. That’s awesome that you find the new scale helpful! Game changer for me. 😁

Huh, that’s surprising. Well hopefully they sub soon!!! I actually went back to my Dr. and we ended up switching to compound. I am still using Zep pens up but will switch to compound in about 5 weeks. I went from ~$350/dose to $87/dose. 😳 Much more obtainable at ~75% less. Hopefully I respond just as well. Thank you for inquiring. 😊

Hi! The thought occurred to me after recording that I might just use this time to take a break. I’ve been listening to Dr. Tyna and she encourages micro dosing and cycling. Congrraaaaats at 1k! Don’t feel like you have to overexplain yourself as to reasons why you are pivoting. It’s to be expected because at some point, we will all be out of the fat loss stage and will pivot either to maintenance or putting on some muscle. Sounds like that’s the point you are at. Which is exciting!

Hahaha that’s exactly how I felt! 🙈 I know most people don’t go back down unless it’s due to the shortage and I guess it felt like I was being dramatic. 😅 I’m definitely not out of the fat loss stage yet. According to my smart scale I’m still at 35% body fat. I’d love to get a Dexa Scan Like you did, but it’s no where to be found by me. 🫠😂

First, thank you so much for the shout out, it brought tears to my eyes.🥲 I don't think you are being ungrateful or nit picky at all. I lost so much in the beginning so quickly and it was definitely mostly muscle. If I could go back and do things a bit differently, I would. You are doing what is best for you and honestly it is optimal and more sustainable to go slow and steady. I agree 100% that we should be able to feel hunger without going overboard and we shouldn't have to "force" ourselves to eat. I also plan on staying on the 5 mg dose and my goal is to stay on it indefinitely. You are absolutely doing all of the right things and your goals are realistic and sustainable. I hope you know that YOU are valuable and courageous for getting online and sharing such a personal journey. You never have to apologize for what you're doing or how you're feeling because we can all see how genuine you are and know it's coming from a good place. Please keep being yourself and making genuine content because this is what actually helps people. I did not mean for this to be a dissertation, I just wanted you to know how I feel and that you're appreciated. TTYL twin! ❤❤❤❤❤ Finally, a huge congratulations on hitting 1K, you most definitely deserved it!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Maybe I’d get used to it, but I’m just not sure how long that’ll take and in the meantime I’m hardly eating anything. Have you heard of Dr. Tyna? That’s where I learned about trying to stay on the lowest, effective dose. You should check her out, she really pushes strength training too. I think you’d like her. 😊

Hi, I am on 10 mg of zepbound. And every time I go up. The appetite suppression is strong and sometimes the side effects are strong too, but after the second or third week, it doesn’t feel as strong if I were you, I would give it a couple weeks and if it doesn’t lessen, you could email your doctor, but that’s up to you.

Hi! I appreciate your feedback, thank you! Did you ever feel it was as strong as I described? I’d be willing to try that, but today all I’ve eaten is a protein shake that I had to force down and a small apple that I couldn’t even finish. Not the least bit hungry, just feel like I ate at a buffet. I was really hoping I’d be more hungry today. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️
