This is an insanely detailed video, and for that I thank you. One thing I cannot figure out to same my life is, with all stock settings, how are you getting your g14 to run past 80 watts on the GPU? No matter what I do, it won't go past 80 watts, and the GPU clock beyond 2230MHz.

Are you in Turbo Fan profile? 80W might be the limit on performance fan profile. You also might be in a cpu intensive game, pulling watts away from gpu.

Nice tutorial. I have the exact same laptop and all I need is to bring down the CPU temp. That hits 95 degrees c and that's cooking.

have the same model, but if i installed the same universal x86 tuning utility like in the video i cant see the amd curve optimiser, how do you have make it work?

I have the same, I recommend that you disable the boost clock with regedit. There is an easy to follow 10 minute video for the same model. Remember that it is saved only for the power plan you are using, if you switch to another mode. you have to turn it back off in that mode. drop 20 degrees on the cpu.

How do you manage to pass 45W for CPU? It doesnt reach 80 whatever i do. Tried running with armory crate and ghelper. One thing i noticed is that my stamp(not sure about name) is limited to 45W. Is set it to 80w in ghelper/ac btw

I’ve been using ghelper instead of armory crate I haven’t messed too much with it but it instantly cooled the temps down by about 10 Celsius. The custom fan curves on there are also very nice.

@@rico4105 I just used the stock setting and adjusted the fan curves for each mode to what worked best. Didn’t mess with it too much but look up how to officially uninstall armory crate that helped a bit too since it was still there but hidden.

Great video, thanks! Having watched all the way through, I'm now trying to emulate your efforts on my brand new G14. However, I'm stumbling at the first hurdle...I downloaded the same version of Universal x86 Tuning Utility but the line item "AMD Curve Optimiser" doesn't exist in mine. Could it be because my CPU is the 7735HS..?

That is possible. You could also try the newer updated versions. There also may have been bios/driver changes. If it were me, I'd try out the various versions of UXTU or perhaps try out G-Helper.

Cooling pad does help a lot for cooling and air circulating in the laptop, and also it helps you correcting your stance when sitting in front of your laptop, you might stick with the top mate c11 or c12 depending of your budget

Undervolting is one of the main keys to get lower temps, which is what will help the keyboard and the entire laptop be cooler. Better cooling solution (Liquid Metal, additional thermal pads like Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads) either manually or professionally done (from resellers like GenTechPc, HidEvolution, maybe XoticPc) really helps. Lastly a cooling pad can help a bit.

@@rdz_2423 Yes. Undervolt both your Cpu and Gpu, temps will go down, fan noise will go down, heat near the keyboard/chassis will go down. It win-win-win-win.

Universal x86 Tuning Utility I got ot to auto start with windows, got -30 undervolt now my GPU goes to 99 - 100% usage. Also undervolted GPU. It wont load my saved presets I have to do it manually at every restart. Anyone can help i missed something. Do not understand why it wont load the saved presets automatically.

Hi thank you for the super detailed video. I seem to be stuck at step 1 however, same model with rtx 4080. I cant get past 14,000 cinebench r23 no matter what i try. Undervolting goes all the way down to -50 without any visible crash so my chipset driver was my first guess. Reinstalled that but still the same issue. Is there anything else that i can try? Thanks!

Granviedo I am about to buy a laptop, but I am looking between the G14, Asus Tuf A16 advantage, the legion slim, and the new HP OMEN transcend, I have some doubts about buying with a 4060 or 4070 gpu to use for tasks and the flight simulator, I like the HP OMEN and I have seen very good comments on the temperatures, in the case of ASUS I see comments on high temperatures, they could help

Hi, I ordered an HP Omen 16. Should arrive soon. It is shipping with ab R7 7840, 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 4060. It will be replacing an Asus Tuf Gaming F15 with an 11800h, 16 GB RAM and an RTX 3060. Why such a "small" update you ask? 'cause Asus could not repair my device as it was bluescreening like every 5 - 10 minutes depending on the workload and my warranty ran out last week. I've sent in the device for RMA and they couldn't find the issue (so they send it back unrepaired). The support guys were nice but any attempt to fix the issue remotedly failed as this is either a driver issue with all their drivers / firmware Asus provides or a hardware failure. They wanted me to send some kind of program / benchmark for them to reproduce the issue but the bsods just happened in games and I couldn't provide them a "standardized" test in time (and they were clearly trying to get beyond these 2 years of warranty). The problem is beyond the device running hot and loud (as expected -.-' cleaning the fans and cooler from dust didn't really help and change out the tmu would've broken the warranty). This device was cursed from the beginning to the end... So for me no Asus again and I'm not the only one with these problems. Some guys on reddit had their devices replaced several times (!) still with these kind of issues. Anyway I would go with the Omen or the Lenovo LOQ. I could have bought the Lenovo LOQ, too but it did only have a Ryzen 5 and not a Ryzen 7 like the similar priced HP. I will sell the Asus for cheap mentioning the bsod issue of course. Maybe an other fool is dumb enough to fix these issue. My nerves are broken... Greetings, Looney's Tech Channel ps: I will test the HP Omen 15 when it arrives on my channel. Prior to the Asus I owned an HP Pavilion Gaming 15 and didn't have such massive problems.

The Omen should come with a not very good FHD-display. My Asus Tuf Gaming F15 display was also "meh" but I got used to it. I wouldn't buy slim versions because these are underpowered to a degree that it even matters for the 4060. The problem is that notebooks with good GPUs (4080+) are too expensive and the affordable ones are underspecced (4060, 4050, even 4070), not available (hello AMD) or just not fast enough to make a significant difference (hello 4070). I can live with the 4060 I guess by reducing details and using 1080p. So maybe there is some way to push the 4060... (not seen the video yet).

@@h47man Hi, I only had Asus and HP in the past. Before the Asus Tuf Gaming F15 (2021) I owned an HP Pavillion Gaming 15. The Asus was a huge disappointment and a catastrophe (I wrote about it above). The HP was fine but a little low specced (GTX 1050 Ti and Intel 8700h). The HP Omen 16 is good so far. It is just a laptop without any specials. It delivers its advertized performance, is not too loud (on the balanced profile) and stays cool. You can tweak the fan curve manually (and use the GPU as reference point for example). Battery is fine, screen could be brighter. Build quality is good. Idk much about other vendors I haven't owned those. Greetings, Looney's Tech Channel

Is thos overclock safe 2600hmz for example and 950mv in long term use can this damage my gpu in one moment only if used for gaming i dont have gpu overheat problem i use rog strix g16 and my working temperature on max usage is around 65-70 degrees

Heat kills CPU/GPU. Heat comes from volt/amps, if you reduce your volts but increase your clocks, you're individually maximizing efficiency for that silicon. So you are actually improving longevity by undervolting. OC the mhz, as long as it's not thermal throttling then you're fine.

Don't think you can undervolt 12th gen intel cpus. They are locked. Some 13th gen cpus as well.

Did you set all sliders in armory crate to max in manaul mode? Did you update to latest drivers and bios?

Good news though, what fixed it is uninstalling the latest Nvidia drivers I had downloaded from the Nvidia website and instead installing the graphics drivers from the MyAsus app installed on the G14. Thanks, hope this helps anyone who has the same issue. I searched and a number of people on reddit had the same issue where the GPU would cap out at 80 watts even with previous model year G14's.

If undervolting and overclocking is so good on this laptop then why is it not like that from factory?

It's because Asus wants to provide the most performance with zero instablity or crashes. Undervolting/overclocking has range limits with most laptops have quite a bit of wiggle room, while some do not and would crash. Tuning a laptop to those limits takes time and would provide different performance in every machine, while they want to provide the same baseline performance in every machine. It's the "business" type of decision that makes sense from their perspective.

It's for them to win at any benchmark app so people buy their laptops, that's why if you ever get an asus laptop, you must tweak it (cpu and gpu)

Undervolting is only unlocked on Ryzen 9 (7940HS, 6900HS, etc.)

@@shahidkismat IN g-helper both slow and fast set to 35watt, curve I increase every 10 degrees by 20% fan speed, if you want to know fan % just take 5600rpm as 100% and then calculate the rest

I bought this 6900HS/Radeon RX 6700S version of the G14 for school and all I do is watch KZfaq and surf the web and this thing is hot! I really don't understand why....I do exactly the same thing with my Chromebook and it never even gets warm. I don't think this video will help since you have a different CPU and GPU.

It's due to the fact that in silent mode the fans dont come on unless the temperature gets very high. The solution would be to put it in manual mode and customize the fan profile.
