Being a city driver, I was looking for a luxury car that was short, and GV60 was the only one I found so I bought it. I was happy that it was shorter than the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

I was wondering about the range until you completely put it in perspective for me. (I’m in The Woodlands and often have to drive to NASA and back)

It’s a nice enough car, but I think I would be more excited with what they do with the next generation in terms of styling. Right now it’s only 75 percent there IMO. Also who picks these exterior colors for Genesis? That’s a color that wouldn’t look good on any vehicle.

It's not really EV's that we're not ready for, because Tesla's don't experience any of these issues you mentioned with this. I've owned an EV for 3 years and never once had range anxiety. I go on long trips all the time with no issue. Tesla's have longer range and charging is fast. I like how quiet it is because you can more easily have conversations inside the vehicle and hear your music much more clearly. The ONLY thing I've missed since owning an EV is not having a manual transmission. Rowing through gears is one thing an EV will unfortunately never be able to offer.

I absolutely agree with everything that you said. Maybe I'm the one that's not ready for an electric car because just like you I'm used to internal combustion cars especially ones with a manual transmission like my daily driver. Having only driven a couple of Tesla models for short periods of time I haven't been able to really draw on experience like you have with yours. I do have a friend who actually had his battery go out prematurely on his Model 3 but I think that was more of a one-off or very rare event.

You must have been at a really slow charger if it took you an hour. My GV60 on a dc fast charger will take maybe 20 mins at 10-85% on EA's 350KW DC fast charger.

Recently bought a Genesis GV70 ICE a few months ago which I am very happy with. I was contemplating going with an EV vs gas powered vehicle and some of the EV points you brought up swayed my decision to stick with gas for now, especially living in the Northeast where we experience cold winters. I will wait till the next generation of EV batteries are widely available (such as solid state) where issues such as range anxiety, charging time, etc., may be alleviated.
