Instead of rubbing your face so much you could just take some coconut oil in your hands and aply it directly to your face to melt the makeup, and then take a wet cotton round and remove the oil with the makeup :)

Who am I to say when I still use single use cotton balls (and with the amount I use it the bag will last about 100 years) but just a little thought: cotton squares would be more sustainable and less wasteful than cotton rounds because with squares there is no waste when cutting the fabric. Maybe I'll destroy an old bed sheet and make myself some cotton squares and use the cotton balls I have for someting more sustainable.

My main concern about konjac sponges is: are they really sustainable? Are they cultivated, or harvested? Are we depleting the environment by using them? If anyone had reliable sources about this I'd love go read more about it, thanks!

I love a good evening of self care! Thank you for sharing yours! I wanted to leave a quick note about the sponsor for this video. I ordered a couple items from them this summer (I needed a new hairbrush) and was disappointed in them. When it took more than a month to receive my items (despite the company claiming to be domestic - I had received other items coming from the west coast of Canada in much less time during covid) and then the shipping notice I received was from China, I started asking questions, which the company did not answer. Their products are all made in China and ship directly from China. There is no information I could find on their supply chain nor their bamboo sourcing. To say this was disappointing was an understatement. I would encourage others considering purchasing from this company to ask questions before doing so.

Turmeric is so so so good for black heads, yeah!! And for the clay, it is better to use a spoon that isn't made out of metal. Your bamboo spoon is perfect for it :) Amazing video, as usual! So inspiring, and it shows that people can go zero-waste and still can take care of themselves!

Why is metal not allowed?
@annenoyer-burdloff629
@annenoyer-burdloff629 4 жыл бұрын
@@webbiecomics5173 Long story short, when the clay gets in contact with a metallic surface (especially wet), their is a ionic interaction that basically makes the good ions form the clay migrate out of it. To make the most of your clay mixture, you want to keep those ions into your clay. So when preparing a face mask like this, it is best to use a wooden spoon. I hope it was understandable :)

Greetings from Finland! I love your videos. You might wanna take a closer look into the face mask, I'm not an expert but have heard that activated charcoal can actually be a bit more harmful to your skin than beneficial. Also if you have any suggestions on Nordic zero waste brands that would be very helpful. I would love to support a business that's even relatively local. Thanks!
@Gittemary
@Gittemary 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, I have my info about charcoal from a soap shop who sell and make their own soap and who is pretty well researched when it comes to their ingredients, so I trust them. The thing I often see advertised and that can be rather harmful are charcoal peel-off masks, which is very different from what I am doing, so don't worry. 😊🌿 Btw I have a list of zero waste shops on the blog (www.gittemary.com/2019/06/online-zero-waste-shops.html) where they are quite a few Danish and German shops featured 👍
@annenoyer-burdloff629
@annenoyer-burdloff629 4 жыл бұрын
My dermatologist told me that it is indeed harmful for the skin as it is scratching it. When you apply charcoal on your face, it creates micro lesion on your skin, which overtime can be irreversible. Same for many scrubs. I asked him about clay, it does have an exfoliating effect on the skin, like a chemical exfoliant, but natural :)

I heard from Südwind (Austrian environmental organization) that coconut oil is also really bad for the environment. And it's even better to use palm oil than coconut oil, for your CO2 footprint. And some coconut farms use monkeys to harvest the coconut. They don't treat the monkeys fine to train them and they carry the monkeys in small boxes. And the fairtrade sign only guarantees that the farmers and workers are well paid and treated not the animals and landscape, I heard. It's really a shame, cause I thought if I buy fairtrade organic coconut oil it's not bad at all...🙈

Show me the person that does not lick the spoon (or whisk) when making cookie dough... this person must either be allergic to cookie dough or have the willpower of ten people. Thanks Gittemary this was a fun one!! PS - I have a really awesome funky shaped whisk, it has a wooden handle and a super strong (non-flexible) metal stirring part... and it is called a “Danish Whisk”. Is this a common thing in Denmark? It works really, really well for mixing thick batter or dough.

Haven’t tried the jade rollers, and don’t think I will 😬 Yeah the Konica takes a long time to dry but I really like it, I use as part of my daily evening routine because it is super gentle on my skin and that’s been great, because I have been dealing with redness and irritation and that has been reduced 💁‍♀️😊💪🏼🌿
