Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Zero Water 23 cup Dispenser. It’s 10.5 inches tall by 15 inches long and 6 inches wide.
LINK to ZeroWater 23 Cup Dispenser: amzn.to/1WSpBXF
The Zerowater zd-018 23-cup water dispenser and filtration system comes with the 23 cup container, lid, reservoir, filter, tds meter and instruction manual. The plastic is bpa free.
Link to Brita 10 Cup Everyday Pitcher: amzn.to/1RIU4Jr
The Tds meter tells you what’s in your water, it measures dissolved solids in water. This filter and has a five stage filtering system versus the standard 2-stage carbon filters that goes into a brita for example. This filter should remove all dissolved solids in your water. How does the filter work - according to ZeroWater - When water passes through the ion exchange filters, the ions that you may not want in the water or may make the water taste bad are collected and exchanged with water ions, like hydrogen.
When the tds meter reads 006, it’s time to change the filter. How long the filter lasts depends on the tds level of your water. An average tds level of 150-200 should give you about 30 gallons of water. The lower the tds level, the longer your filter will last.
The filters can be recycled by mailing them to Zerowater. Here is a link to that information:
www.zerowater.com/docs/ZeroWat...
Remove the cap, Push the on/off button to turn on, put the meter in your water no more than an inch or two deep because it could damage the meter, it’s not waterproof. When the reading stabilizes, press hold to keep the reading displayed. Press hold again to go back to 0. Shake it off and test again. Push the button to turn off.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) establishes standards for drinking water which fall into two categories -- Primary Standards and Secondary Standards. primary Standards are based on health considerations and Secondary Standards are based on taste, odor, color, corrosivity, foaming, and staining properties of water. There is no Primary drinking water standard for total dissolved solids, but the Secondary standard for TDS is 500 mg/L.
www.epa.gov/dwstandardsregula...
www.epa.gov/dwstandardsregula...
You can buy a Reverse Osmosis testing package online if you’re really concerned with what’s in your water.
I preferred the taste of the Brita water as it was not bitter like the ZeroWater filtered water.

Best thing I did buying this product. I thought the meter was a trick but if you use it with water unfiltered by the Zero filter it will definitely show numbers representing whatever is in that water. Using the meter on water filtered with Zero shows zero as long as the filter has not been compromised with those elements in the unfiltered water. Even water filtered through my Britta will show around 140 or so. It's amazing to filter the Britta filtered water with the Zero and measure it again to now show Zero! Fantastic.

I love my Zero water filter taste and I have bottles I keep in my fridge for company to drink and they always comment how good it tastes. I guess it’s a personal preference, I have never cared for Brita water taste, my sister has a Brita and I like mine better. Oh well to each his own. But I would highly recommend the Zero pitcher 🦋. I wish I knew earlier that you could recycle the filters, I’ll be doing that from here on out. I also bought a faucet filter for my sink and then used that instead of right out of the tap to pour in my Zero filter and it did cause zero filter to last a lot longer, keeping the cost down, but I feel zero filter is absolutely well worth the money.

How about running the water through the filter a few times before you tase it?
@GT6SuzukaTimeTrials

You're supposed to run some water through the new filter before drinking. Don't drink the water that went through a fresh filter. Run a half gallon or more through it first. Then it shouldn't taste weird.

+GT6SuzukaTimeTrials Hi, according to Zerowater, there is no need to run water through a new filter and discard it. As long as the water reads 000 on the TDS meter, it is ready to drink.

How does her Britta filter measure 3.2? What are those particles? Our tap water (which was determined to have too much lead in it to be safe for consumption) measures 1.52. I'm confused about what the TDS is measuring.

So the 0 TDS means it removes things like: chlorine, antibiotic, pesticides, microorganisms? And does it removes heavy elements like lead, mercury, arsenic…etc? Does it have a UVC disinfection light against bacteria? Does it have a “time to change filter” indicator?

This is great the first water filter system that actually uses a TDS meter, I've tried one or two other systems that claimed to clean the water only to find they don't. The weird thing is that I spent a long time trying to find a system that actually tested the water with a TDS meter over the past year or so and not once did this filter system come up in my random searches, the only reason I have found this filter is because it was pointed out to me in a store so I decided to do a little searching directly stating the name of the product. So what is going on? Why didn't this product come up in any of my random searches for water filters or PPM tested water searches or many other various search titles. Anyway this looks good will definitely work out cheaper than distilling the water especially now electricity has become so expensive.

I use two systems. I filter through Zero Water first, then run it through Pur. Why? Mainly to be extra safe, but also because Zero Water removes fluoride and neither Pur nor Brita do. I don’t mess with fluoride. That’s some nasty IQ destroying stuff. Total annual cost for both is about $200. I used to spend over $300/yr on bottled water so I’m pleased with this process for now. I think I’ll eventually install a reverse osmosis system though.

I bought a 6 cup Zerowater pitcher a few months ago. The water tastes great, but because my tap water is crap, it has a TDS reading of .450, I used up the filters pretty quickly. So, I thought if I bought a tap water filter that had filters which were much cheaper than the Zerowater filters it would make the Zerowater filter last longer. NOT ! As I said the tap water reads .450. The tap water AFTER it went through the Brita tap filter read .450. The Brita tap filter did NOTHING to filter the water ! The Zerowater pitcher alone gives a reading of .000. Conclusion? Brita is absolutely crap !

I trully dont believe its 000, i have done many, probably hundreds of tests... even reverse osmosis system wont give you 000... If she/ you said it its 20-30... i would say wow, it is impressive... now...? Sounds false, it is either chemically neautralised conductivity in the water or something else.

S.L.S - That’s because Brita filters don’t do anything. They’re absolute crap and extremely overrated. They don’t filter water. They simply “remove” any smells or odors using charcoal. That’s it. They don’t remove TDS.
@FuriedHearts
@FuriedHearts 5 жыл бұрын
Asta Staniute ....LOL. You don’t believe it even though the TDS meter proves it. Very silly logic. That’s why they provide their own TDS meter to prove to you that it filters out dissolved solids. A TDS meter is a TDS meter. It measures dissolved solids. That’s its only job. There is no way they would be able to “fake” a 0 TDS.

Perhaps there’s a lot of copper in your water if it is a lighter green that resembles what happens to copper when it is exposed to water after a period of time. If it is more of a plant like green, it could be a form of algae, but I would really go with copper especially if you do clean it regularly.

Demineralised water is thought to be bad for you according to the medical profession. Natural spring water is mineralised as it passes through rocks in the Earth, rain water is demineralised and is preferred by some plant life, as most plants get their minerals from the ground and not rain.

@Metguy123
@Metguy123 3 жыл бұрын
The most balanced and "natural" pH is 7.4. So aiming for 7 is aiming for acidic water. Not advised. At least from a biochemical perspective. All the things one may read about getting more acidic water is kinda bunk since it'll just make your cells yearn for more chemically basic substances to counteract the acidity. Generally between 7.2-7.4 is what I'd personally aim for in my water.
